Help? worried... Mood

Has anyone here been diagnosed with low amniotic fluid? Or "oligohydramnios"? They are the same thing but that's the correct name for it. If so, how did your pregnancy turn out?? Did you ever know the true cause of it??

About 6 weeks ago, my sonographer at my doctor's office was concerned about my daughter's amniotic fluid level, which was low.. and my doctor said to drink more fluids and she'd check it at my next appointment. Well, it was so low at my next appointment that I immediately went upstairs to the high risk doctor and was put in the hospital for 5 days with fluids and got the steroid shots for her lungs to develop faster, got pumped up with protein, folic acid, & multivitamins and reglan to coat my stomach to make me hungry. I am a little overweight, and I haven't gained any weight during my pregnancy... I've actually lost 2lbs, I am now 30 1/2 weeks, and my doctor wants me to gain 15lbs in 4 weeks and they said if her fluid isn't up she is going to have to come early because of restricted room to grow.

Has anyone else been through this?

I do not have a leak, they checked for that. I also don't have diabetes or pre-eclampsia.. some of the other factors that sometimes cause low amniotic fluid.

They let me out of the hospital because the fluid raised after being given IV fluids and all the vitamins- I was sent home on a gallon a day of water, 1 gatorade, 2 protein shakes and 6 small meals a day. I have to return to the doctor every 3-4 days now!

I don't have any experience with low amniotic fluids but I just wanted to say I hope things build back up to where they should be soon and that you both are doing well! I'll be thinking of you both and sending prayers your way!!
