I've had type 1 Diabetes since I was six and have depression along with it. I've been in North Carolina for almost three years and have nobody to talk to, especially about this. I would like to other diabetics in this area.

Close Diabetes Type 1
I have type 1 Diabetes and Depresion. I've had diabetes for about 34 years (since I was 6) and had some complications along with it.
Treatments
- Lantus Considering
- I've been having problems keeping my blood sugars regulated. Sometimes it stays too high.
- NovoLog Somewhat Helpful
- A lot of times when I take Novolog, I bottom out on my blood sugars. The lowest my blood sugar has gotten was 23.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Lexapro works on my depression. That is until I run out
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI was diagnosed with clinical depression about 11 years ago. But, I believe I've suffered with depression for much longer. There have been many events in my life that could have triggered my depression. If you'd like to know more just ask. I'll be glad to hear your experiences and share mine also.
Treatments
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- I been on Lexapro for about a year. It seems to be working well. But, if I run out of my meds my girlfriend can tell the difference within just a couple of days. She says that I don't become violent or anything but my humor becomes mean-spirited and things that usually don't bother me become mountains.
- Wellbutrin Not Working
- I was on Wellbutrin for about 2 1/2 months. It did not work for me at all. In fact, I started having major mood swings and became very hard to live with. So I discontinued the Wellbutrin with the support of my doctor and girlfriend.
Open ADHD / ADD
My girlfriend's thirteen year old son has ADHD and is very hard to control sometimes. He tends to get into truoble alot and he is very aggravating at times. But with help from his mom, I'm trying to get a handle on it.
Treatments
- Metadate Working / Worked
- His meds seem to help as far as I can tell. He's not as wild with it. But he misses his pill in the morning, he sometimes has meltdowns and is extremely hard to calm him down.
Open High Blood Pressure
Don't know what to say about this one. My blood pressure has been high for awhile. Partly hereditary, partly because of diabetes. Both my father and grandfather have had heart attacks and I'm hoping that I don't have one
Treatments
- Micardis Working / Worked
- Micardis seems to help alot, along with Caduet and Alltace. My bp has dropped from 170/98 to 131/72 and my pulse rate along with it.
Open Stroke
I had a small stroke when i was thirty. It basically affected my equalibrium and made my extremely dizzy for about three months. My Neurologist told me that it would take about six months for a full recovery, but I pushed myself and cut in half. One of docs told me that it was my fault because of my diabetes.Talk about a jerk for a doctor.
Treatments
- Aspirin Working / Worked
- Low dose aspirin works as a blood thinner. My doc wants me to take one childrens aspirn a day.
Open Retinal Detachment
I was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy in 1992. The doctors said it could've caused detachment if I didn't get laser sergury.
Open Parents of Children with ADHD
I guess you could say that I am a step-father of a 13 year old with ADHD. He's good kid but has his moments. Abd when he gets these moments, he is really hard to control.
