It is great for me to find someone to talk with who has been struggling with crohns for so long. Any advice for me I am brand new to this I am 22 and I was just diagnosed a few months ago. Anyway, I thank you for your friendship!
Prayer
Thank you for your sweet words and prayers. I love that, "be still and know that I am"- I felt peace simply reading it. It is so hard to "let go and let God"... but your right, we are on for the ride- he has the wheel. I am grateful, I have many gifts- I often tell my son that I know God loves me- because he gave me my son- and he is truly a blessing....

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I am 58 years old, female and have had Chrons for 21 years. I have had 3 resections. Currently I seem to be dealing with a lot of diarrhea and upset stomach. It is so dis-heartning. I am on Purinethol, Flagyl and Folic Acid right now. Over the years I think I have had all the meds out there for Chrons. I am just feeling down and don't know what to do and thought maybe talking to someone might help. My weight has dropped to 90 pounds and I am 5' 8" tall. This is not a good thing to say the least.
Treatments
- Asacol Not Working
- When I took this, they would come out the other end exactly as when I swallowed it, even the tiny letter was still there on the pill so how could they be doing anything for me?
- Dietary Modification Somewhat Helpful
- This is really hit and miss. I do avoid most fiber in my diet as well as dairy. It is a hard thing to figure out.
- Entocort Somewhat Helpful
- I didn't have any issues with taking this, I think it might have helped but I cannot affort it any longer so had to stop taking it.
- Flagyl Somewhat Helpful
- I've been on this for three years now - daily. Not sure if it is still doing anything or not.
- Lomotil Working / Worked
- Many years ago I took one on a daily basis and it really helped control the diarrhea. Then the GI I switched to said I couldn't take them any more, it was his belief not mine. If I could go back on them maybe this stuff would slow down!
- Prednisone Not Working
- I detest this drug with a passion and will not take it any more. I had the side affects and I have never been able to tell that it did any good.
- Purinethol Somewhat Helpful
- Again, I have been on this for three years and I guess it is helping.
- Remicade Not Working
- I only had two treatments of this at a time that I developed a fistula so I don't know.
- Surgery Working / Worked
- All three times the surgery did help and was a last resort. I hope I don't have to have any more though.
