Spring is in the Air Mood
Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Well, finally it is warm here in Alaska and the snow is melting and I had a rabbit under the bird feeder today.  Soon all the trees will be getting leaves and the snow will be gone.  I'm looking forward to a nice and always quick spring season here.  Summer is right around the corner at the end of May when I can start planting! Hurray!

Well, eldest son moved out this last week and the house is quiet again and I don't know why but I seem so much more relaxed and even though it was nice to have him living here it is nice to have him off on his own again and after 2 years of him here it is weird and quiet.  Also, now I don't have my cat or dog anymore and only my parrot and fish the house is very quiet and this year we aren't getting any geese or chickens so I hope to have more time to do quilting and other projects outside like painting and planting and building flower and garden beds.

Time just passes to quickly!  I don't know if I'm going to be a grandmother anymore or not, we haven't heard from the girl since Feb and eldest son is wondering too.  I hope he goes to her house and finds out what is going on.  But it is up to him.  He wanted to keep the child and told her so, but she has two children already and I don't know what is going on in her head, she seems like a nice person and the kids are nice too.  We welcomed them into our family so it is odd to have them not around, we even have alot of kid stuff we bought for the children to play with and tiny chairs and things.  We miss them and hope everything is fine.  Sigh.

I'm waiting till my allergies get bad before I head back to the ears, nose and throat guy.  He said to come in when the summertime allergies are the worse so we can see what to do next with my head.  I just want to breathe in the cold air and when I excerise and seems like everything is always stuffed up.  With all the meds I am on for allergies I should be the best sniffer around, LOL.

We had a couple of very young moose here for a couple of weeks and the twin boys were without their mother moose and they got rather rough with my feeders and hanging basket hooks, broke off one hook and it is metal, that must have hurt!  They slept around the bird feeders and the pine trees in the back yard and just moseyed around the yard and played.  It is so nice to see the wild life in the yard but they need to have a mom around to keep them from causing to much damage.  These guys started to get rather rough and playful with the feeders as their antlers started to itch them, they have alot of power behind their pushing and scratching.  But, for now they have moved off and I hope to see them again and hopefully they will not be so teenager like, LOL.

With the melting snow our back yard is a lake and looks lovely, with the snow patches and soon we will get wild geese and ducks in the area and they like to land in the yard.  When we had our geese last year the wild ducks would share the water with them until the puddles disappeared and the ducks had to move on to their breeding grounds up north more.  Hopefully, we will see them again this year.  The cranes will be coming soon too and the noise they make is something!  They are so loud and they fly right over our house and in the morning and at night they are very loud, but that too is nice.

I have to get to sewing the new porch curtains I am making to help with the sun and heat on the porch, I got some thin fabric and have to decide on grommets or just making a loop in the fabric to fasten it up on the porch, the sun gets so hot on the porch I was hoping that the fabric was a bit more sun proof, but on well, it was a good price on the internet and hopefully it will work.

Also, starting a mystery quilt and still working on hubby's quilt had a few set backs on his quilt and making a light summer sweater and hairpin lace skirt and another sweater with hand made lace for the summer time.  I bought some really cute quilt fabric for a baby quilt and bumpers for a crib to make, so I have to get that done and other fabric with fairies for one of my bedrooms.  I hope to decorate it with flowers and fairies and have it very girly.LOL. the other one I want to be about the sea and light houses.  I love the sea and our bedroom I want to be wilderness lodge type, I have a long way to go with all this.  Now where did I plant that money tree,LOL.

I have to get paint to redo the porch and sheds and garage door.  Seems like I just painted the porches and garage door but it was 3 years ago when we moved in and I never got around to sealing the porches, argh and now it all has to be redone and the sheds too need to be done.  But it should look nice once it is all finished.  Crossing my fingers!
