Close Migraine Headaches

Have always had "headaches" thought they came from my neck. Only past 6 or so years realized they were migraines. Am somewhat under control with Topamax and Imitrex. Do NOT like all the drugs in my body though. Topamax pushed my depression over the edge so now I'm on Wellbutrin.

Treatments

Acupuncture Working / Worked

I should have followed all of her advice she had me under better control than I am now with 200mg Topa. I thought it was too expensive. But my drugs are more!

Aspirin Not Working

I was taking probably 10 or more a day plus Tylenol(10), Advil(10) and Aleve(4) and nothing even touched the pain.

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked

Avoid scents, msg, all prepackaged foods, caffeine, decaf, sodas, bananas, wheat, sugar, direct sun in my eyes, flourescent lighting, loud noise. Can't avoid baraometric pressure changes.

Botulin Toxin Not Working

Tried this as part of a clinical trial. Hated it.

Caffeine Working / Worked

It might initially help, but since getting 100% free of it I am in much better shape. It is REALLY hard to get off it though.

Excedrin Not Working

Same comment as aspirin.

Fioricet Somewhat Helpful

Not good - has caffeine.

Imitrex Working / Worked

Yeah - they work, but it was only after I started messing with these that I went from two a month to chronic daily.

Magnesium Considering

I take it - but don't know if it helps.

Maxalt Working / Worked

Not as good as Imitrex, but same idea except has aspartame in it - another bad idea for migraine people.

Naproxen Not Working

Same as aspirin.

Topamax Somewhat Helpful

I don't know. It seemed to help - but I'd really like to be off of it. I am under better control though. But, with the accupuncture if I would have done exactly what she said, I might be cured by now.

Armour Thyroid Considering

I have read a lot lately about he link between low thyroid and migraine.
