Getting a little behind.. Mood
Monday, December 15, 2008 | A Painful story

Getting a little frustrated, finally got my mental stuff going on straightened out.  But the pain from my back keeps getting worse and I think they are going to take me off my pain meds all together.  I would love to not have to take them, but if they help and they finally find some that help all the time then why change them?  I think the docs are scared of having to deal with someone on those things, so I am going to see if I can get a referral to a pain clinic since they can't seem to help.  I have an appointment on the 19th and I will talk to the doctor about it then.

I messed up something in my shoulder, it feels like a hot poker is hitting one of those screws back there, and my hand keeps going numb and I keep dropping stuff.  I called and told the doc this and the nurse said that she thinks that it  might be carpal tunnel? You have got to be kidding.  They told me to call if this ever happened because I just had back surgery...I dont know.  Anyway, I think that I am doing too much too early.  My back feels like its on fire, I have tried ice and it helps for a little while.  I think that something back there is swelling and that is causing the pain.  Hopefully when I go back to the doc they will listen to me.  I switched my progress for the spine fusion back a little bit because I have actually gone back a little bit in recovery.

I wonder if anyone else has problems with their doctor not listening to them...

I can't speak for everyone, but I do believe doctors have selective hearing. BTW, if you are only a couple months out on your surgery please remember that the healing takes time. Once you hit 4-6 months you will see less ups and downs. It can take over a year to fully heal up and know where you are at. Be patient, although I do know how hard it is.

Wow, hope you can take it easy until you can get to the doc, and hopefully, the doc will listen and help you! Healing takes time; be easy on yourself while the healing is still taking place! xxx
