I'm really sorry to hear that you were turned down - is there an appeal process? You would certainly need to earn a good salary so that you could pay child care. Seems you are "Up Shit Creek without a Paddle" - as my elder daughter says! (She often is!)What a rotten New Year present - I hope the op. means you are feeling better that way at least. The cost of medicine in the US is really frightening! We have a Federal Insurance System - there are pretty long waiting lists (bec. there's such a shortage of Specialists), but everyone does eventually get sorted. I've also had some Private Ins. since my younger d. turned 18 - so that's going to pay for the jaw op. - or at least some of it - it's a queer situation: Private Health say it's not dentistry - so won't pay (apart from the day surgery); Federal Ins. don't pay for dentistry at all - unless it's some rare thing that a baby is born with! So I think I'm going to be up for about $600 - which isn't too bad - but then there's the denture as well. Oh dear. I think you are very brave to have the spinal Op. I think I'm too far gone (the local fella won't do spines! -he will give me a new knee though - & that's covered by Nat. Insurance). All rather confusing isn't it! Well my dear, as you can tell, my head's clear, so the preventatives are working. Am getting around a bit now. Can you see a financial counsellor for help - short term lending is plain usury - frightening: it should be illegal. But then, you should have a Med. Insurance Scheme in the best of all possible worlds. Too many vested interests I fear. Take care now, Fond regards JaneD.
