Hey there girlie. Well, some people support the war and some dont. I do believe that folks who are active duty have no choice but to go to war if told they must, so NO they should not be shunned when they get home nor should they be treated badly for what they had to do.
Although I do not agree with war I do know these guys are doing what they must. They could always go AWOL but they would get arrested for doing so. God bless them, their families and those who are also victims of this situation. d

semper, im with you. My son in law was in Iraq 2004 -2005 , army. Im proud of all our soldiers and supppport them as muchas i can. I keep myflag flying 24/7 all the time. God bless our veterans on the memorial day and everyday, active and retired............

My grandfather and brother also served in the Navy, and my father, in the Air Force during the Korean War, and in the Army during WW II.

I have heros in my family frome World war I and II my great grandfather and my grandfather they were both in the high rankings and made a career out of it. My dad tried to get in but they wouldnt let him fight in the Vietnam war...He only has one hand and its short, but that didnt keep him from wanting to be there, he had impecable scores, but it was too much of a risk for him to be there with a handicap.
By the way, I think its a lovly poem and these men, DO have choices and they chose to protect out freedom, even if some dont understand it. Hate bush if you want, but dont hate the soldiers! GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr

My flag is always flying as well.I was never the type to believe in war,even before my husband chose to fight,but i am proud of my husband even though he paid the ultimate sacrifice for this country,which is full of hate,predjudice,and greed.I support the troops fully,but i am however discontent with the fact that this is a war about absolutely nothing in my opinion ,except as disabledddude said oil.

i'd like to add that i do not agree with the statement of a flag in one hand and begging with the other. these men and women risk life and limb 24hrs a day 7 days a week,and wether one agrees with war or not,that is something to be respected!!

WOW. I was a soldier in Arlington National Cemetary, and was in the honor guard for President Reagan. My husband served with the 101st in Iraq. It's nice to see so many people supporting the troops and flying their flags on memorial day. WHile I was in the army every MEM day weekend we had to walk through the cemetary and put a flag on every gravestone. If anyone hasn't seen ANC over memorial day you should go see it... Its beautiful. Poem was great Semper... HUgs to you for being brave and speaking your mind!
