My newly-recorded O.C.D. CD Mood

My Newly-Recorded  "OCD/BFD"  CD

A few weeks ago, I had called my mother who is 80 years old, and lives in Nebraska. We were discussing my coming home in the next few months. I told her that, because of my OCD,

travel was very difficult. (I will go see mom in any case; it just isn't at all easy). I gave her an update on my OCD - on how difficult it was at times

Mom was in tears near the end of the

conversation.

I have done voice work and voice-overs for radio and television, so I do a lot of imitations.

I said: "Mom, here are three people I make up to get me through the day with my OCD at times: a southern fellow, this British guy, and a black Marine drill sargeant. I imitated all

three, and she was laughing by the end of the conversation.

Mom said: "I would love a recording of that".

Well, as wanted to do a wonderful job, and not just sit down with my cassette player and record the individual voices, I talked to a friend

of mine who is a recording studio engineer, and asked if he would do this project.

The result is, ostensibly, a "travelogue" of my (fictional) experiences of going around the

country talking to/asking people about OCD, and doing some INTENSE Cognitive Behavioral Exposure Therapy along the way,

especially with the drill sargeant!!

The result is a 30 - 40 minute long CD with me doing all of the male voices, my sweetie doing all the female voices, a story line, music

and sound effects, and cameo appearances by both President Bush and Hannibal Lecter (who meet in

the kitchen, after a fashion toward the end of the CD - one of them walks away - I'll let you guess which one).

The CD was great fun to make and was nearly completely improvised. Though I had an idea of the characters I wanted in the story

(there are about 10 males characters and 7 female characters) and the story line itself, the dialogue was mostly improvised in the moment during the recording sessions.

Who knows? This may become an underground "Firesign Theatre" of the OCD world humor cult hit!

I will give one to my A.A. sponsor, one to my psychiatrist (Hell, he should pay ME!) and of course, one to my mom.

The CD ends, in fact, with: "I love you, mom".

  "HI" clutteryermind!!!!!!! Embarassed

Note: This CD is not politically or

socially correct in any way, shape or

form. While it deals with OCD as a

sub-text, and includes a few rather

intense Cognitive Behavioral Therapy encounters - especially with

Major Hassle, the black Marine drill

sargeant - I must say the CD contains, at one point, the most

outrageous collection of monumental farting sounds ever

compiled (pardon the pun). It truly

is amazing what one can find on the

web. These sounds, however, are only in service to the CBT that Major

Hassle assigns me in the story.

And, if this does become a cult hit,

perhaps I'll start selling them on DS,

make a million dollars and....well,

I'm getting ahead of myself.
