Texting, colloquialisms and laziness Mood
Sunday, August 2, 2009 | An Educational story

Please: If you like to use the number "2" for the words "too" or "to"; the number 4 the words "for" or "fore", the letter "u" for the word "you" or other texting or cultural colloquialisms, please don't message me. Since there is no limit to the number of characters used for messages, write the word out, or message someone else who likes to use numbers in place of words.

I had changed added this message to my profile and, though the "system" said that my profile had been updated, when I checked again, the addition wasn't there anymore. Perhaps the "system" thought it inappropriate. No less appropriate, certainly, than the "f... you" avatars, however.

I'm wondering...... Mood

Why are there so few people here who can spell correctly?

By "here", I am referring to this site.

Then again, the illiteracy rate in the U.S. is
20% - 25% of the population.

And, now that I think about it, that is approximately the percentage of the U.S. population who identify themselves as being Republican.

Is that merely a coincidence?

The statistics are, at least, interesting from a circumstantial perspective.

Very good point. I wonder the same thing all the time. I know I can count on you for a message full of proper spelling and grammar!

"Impossible" O.C.D. Compulsions Mood
Monday, June 1, 2009 | A General Update story

O.C.D. Compulsions -

   A simple thought, perhaps.

I find it interesting that I have never thought of/been "required" to do an O.C.D. compulsion that is physically impossible, i.e. "Take a running start, and then jump over your house. Do this 5 times".

Just a consideration. Has anyone out there ever felt the need to do a compulsion that was impossible?

   Responses are welcome.           Dave

I've feel the need to do things like try to come up with a solution to world hunger. Stuff like that. Absurdly difficult tasks. But things that are physically impossible... I'm trying to think. I can't come up with one. Most of mine were/are thinking that if things aren't done a certain way, catastrophe lies ahead. How've you been? No swimming the width of the Atlantic, OK? No jumping tall buildings, Dave. We don't want to clean up the splat.
