I am a school social worker, I am married and I have a five year old son. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. These two diseases have changed my life completely. I get migraines. I have hypothyroidism. I struggle daily to live with and deal with these diseases. My husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that.

Amey,
Thanks for the words of encouragement with "Sunshine".
He is adjusting nicely now. Sitting on us and letting us pet him/her, its still only 2 months old! But also its still nervous. So much I wish I could do to teach it but I guess I have to learn to be patient. Never been one of my strong points, lol...
Hey, I take aderall for my fatigue. Is that what you take? Only thing is I find my body is developing a tolerance to it.
Well I hope your having a good day!
Back to talking to my baby!

Hey!
Now I`am pchyed he/she sat on my finger today. I don`t think it knew what it was doing. lol I hope he/she continues to move in this direction.
Btw, whats your name?
Are you able to work with cfs? I know your mentioned in another thread that you are a social worker at a kids school. Boy I cant imagine how you do it if you are.
Anyway, I just wanted to keep you updated on my good news!

Hi!
Thanks for asking about my bird. I`am really at a loss since this is my first bird. I`ve only had dogs. I`am not use to this type of treatment, lol. I found out how scared they are and I`am trying to be very patient. I`am doing the putting my hand in there and letting him get use to it and getting close with the finger and trying to see if he will let me put my finger up close to him. He flys away everytime I get my finger up close. Geez its going on 3 weeks. I think it may have something to do with him escaping from the cage a week ago and me having to catch him. I`am sure he hated this. Now he probably is scared of me. What can I do to help he/she over come this. I don`t want to keep a bird who is so scared of me.I need some advice.
Boy, you raelly are an animal lover. Do you have a farm?
Kittens are sooo cute.My grandaughter wants me to get one. I`am having a hard enough time with the bird! lol
I bet all the animals can sense your love for them.
Gotta get moving over here. Have a good day!
Hugs,
Rosanne
Thank you so much for sharing your stories. I have my new bird since yesterday. Boy is it ever scared. I have never had a bird so I didnt realize how frienghtened it would be. I`am trying to leave it alone for a couple of days so it can adjust to the new enviorment. Hopefully, it will start to not see me as a threat sometime soon. My grandaughter tends to be louder so she really has to watch how she talks while the bird gets use to her. Iam so happy you wrote and reassured me about the illness fear. I will look into what to feed it asyou suggested. Thanks and keep in touch!

What a great picture. Is that you with your bird may I ask? I only ask because as a cfs person I have been discouraged not to get the parakeet I`am going to get tommorrow for my grandaughter for health reasons. I understand there is a risk for those of us who have compromised immune systems for contracting diseases from birds. I have already bought the cage and have promised her this bird for months. I figure I will wear a mask and gloves when I clean the cage. If my symptoms should worsen the bird will become history. Sorry for the long story. I just wanted you to understand why the picture gives me hope! I`d love to know its a picture of you with your bird.
