I have SCLE and was diagnosed at age 39, one year ago. At the time, I was employed as an instructor of healthcare information management. As of April of this year, I became unemployed because of the SCLE, a disc herniation at L5-S1 (causing sciatica), and am symptomatic of rheumatoid arthritis. My passions are my extremely supportive husband and two children, one girl-8, one boy-7. I seek support and insight on how to maintain normalcy for myself and my family.

Hey Michele, Thanks for the hug. I really do stink at this but I wil try my next few days are going to be pretty busy so the best I can do is jsut monitor the site and read other peoples notes and questions. Support Groups
Close Lupus
My name is Michele and I have Subacute Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus. I am desperate to find a support group for that specific version of Lupus. Please I need mental support for myself and my family. I've been diagnosed for a year and have yet to find a support group to match my specific need.
Treatments
- Azathioprine Not Working
- Side effect for me was the worst flare ever that resulted in lesions like 3rd degree burns with paper cuts in them.
- Cellcept Working / Worked
- I still have erythema but my lesions have stablized.
- Methotrexate Working / Worked
- I was on this until I stopped taking Azathioprine and began taking Cellcept.
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- I take two daily doses, a.m. and p.m. and may be able to stop taking it after 2nd Rituxan infusion.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I can't seem to get below a 30mg daily dose without my lesions becoming brighter ("angrier" - as my rheumatologist describes them at times)
- Rituxan Working / Worked
- I've had my first infusion. 2nd one will be on June 13th, 2008. Rheumatologist will have me wean off of the prednisone soon after.
