Have been diagnosed with Narcolepsy since I was twelve years old. I'm a writer who's working on having the guts to submit to publish...I love life and am working on bettering myself on a daily basis. I like to be around others who are always striving for self improvement too.

T, We must get our blood work to Stanford and get in their database. Our cousin, Paula on my mom's side is also on Provigel and so is my brother. It would really be something if the sleep disorders just happen to be on both sides of my family. Love, mamanarcoleptic

Close Narcolepsy
My mother and I both are cataplectic narcoleptics, luckily I found a new doctor who prescribed Xyrem to me, therefore treating the cause of the problem, not the symptom. I've tried everything, but Xyrem has helped me a great deal. The only problem I'm having is waking up for the second dose...
Treatments
- Adderall Not Working
- Made me feel psychotic. Awful anger and rage, with little help with EDS.
- Dexedrine Working / Worked
- Daily taking 5 mg time release as per doctor's orders. It helps.
- Provigil Not Working
- Never worked for me. Didn't affect me at all.
- Ritalin Working / Worked
- Made me feel psychotic and was difficult to titrate. The doctor who prescribed this to me 20 years ago was irresponsible in his prescribing of the drug.
- Xyrem Working / Worked
- Works extremely well, when I am able to take the second dosage. It's hard to wake up, and negatively affects the lives of my loved ones.
- Effexor Not Working
- Was the worst drug Ive ever been on the withdrawals were horrible worse than quitting anything even cigarettes.It was the worst drug ever.
