Single black mother Mood

I wrote this back in the early 80's.It was a personal tribute to a very close friend.

     No one really knows

     No one really cares

     Tears on her cheeks

     At nothing she stares

          She doesn't understand

          A thought in her head

          The pain in her heart

         Or the tears she's shed

     Almost all that she's loved

     Somehow's gone astray

     The life that she's earned

     Has been taken away

          She silently wonders

          Where does it end

          A half forced smile

          Yea,she has to pretend

     Again she's lost

     In anguish she's nude

     Her complicated life

     Somehow seems crude

          No one seems to know

          No one seems to care

          Pain in her heart

          As her memory flares

     She doesn't understand

     The thoughts in her head

     The tears on her cheeks

     Or the tears she's shed

This may seem sad,it may seem depressing.Someone famous once said,"To talk down(into) people, you have to speak in a language that they understand."

I consider the greatest and most looked over gift ,the ability to relate. It sets us apart in many ways. What a blessing when it serves the greater good by bringing us closer together.

You are so right about to most over looked gift...that ability to relate! I believe that people do care and maybe not able to allow them self to come out of their own dispare...a tear speaks a thousand words! depression has its deceiving facts "we are not alone and yes there is someone who does understand and know of that pain you are feeling!"
