    • Close Chronic Pain

      I'm still dealing with whiplash spots from a rear end collision accident in 2001. I think I might have something like chronic myofascial pain but I have yet to figure this out with a doctor.

      Treatments

      Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
      Very helpful for the headaches. They will put the tiny bones of yoru neck back in alignment and the headaches go away. Can be uncomfortable at times but I combine treatments with massage therapy to eliminate any discomfort.
      Heat Working / Worked
      Generally heat relaxes the muscles flaring up.
      Meditation Working / Worked
      This is always a good idea even if just to be in a healing space away from the pain.
      Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
      A few years ago I tried this and it helped a little.
      TENS Working / Worked
      Sometimes my chiropractor will use this treatment to loosen the affected muscles. It kind of tricks them to relax.
    • Close Migraine Headaches

      My muscles right underneath the base of my skull tend to cause migraines, especially around that time of month.

      Treatments

      Caffeine Somewhat Helpful
      it varies how well this works. I usually don't medicate with caffeine.
      Excedrin Working / Worked
      lessens or completely gets rid of them in about a half hour.

      My dad died in a car accident in 2001. I was 19 at the time. This has been one event that has changed everything since then. It has gotten a little easier but I know I'll always miss him.

      It can take the edge off slightly.

      Oh I've gotten angry at times. It's hard to understand why things happen. I think anger can be quite normal.
      Helping Others Working / Worked
      Sometimes focusing on others needs can help. Just be sure you are getting the care and love you need too.
      Keeping Busy Working / Worked
      For me I went back to school.
      Music Working / Worked
      Can be very powerful at provoking memories. Can be a good thing or a painful thing.
      Poetry Working / Worked
      I wrote one for the funeral and have written things since then.
      Remembering Working / Worked
      Oh yes. You must always remember the good times. If you don't allow yourself to remember things can get blocked up. It's okay if at first you can't. The freshness of it can be so severe and painful.
      Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
      It made my mom, sister, and I grow closer together.
      Talking Working / Worked
      It's always good to talk about how you feel.
      Time Working / Worked
      It's cliche but after a few years at least for me the sting isn't as strong. I still have moments where something random will trigger his memory and I lose it but things can get a little better with time.
