II have gradually lost most of my peripheral vision and have 2-3% of my central vision. My interest in joining the group is that I would like support and help navigating this disease. Doctors first thought I had RP but now say it is the central nervous system and brain disease.

hi mate how you doing? i just been registered severly sighted almost tunnell now has increased really quick over the last 3 wks!!! got work sorted they getting 19inch screen and bigger keyboard for me and sorting out light in office so looks like i being staying for a while which is a relief money wise anyrate. told my girls but that being supportive and my parents. bit too much to take in at present only found out friday!!! so still in a bit of shock but i know i will cope i not letting this eye thing rule my life . fill me in as to how you been mate and what you been upto love diane your friend foreverxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hi glad you feeling a bit more upbeat!! i signed my forms friday for dissability parcially sighted waiting to hear now from social servives who want to come round and see what i need and tell me what benefits i can have then i be able to work out what sort of job i can do and how much i need to earn. then the dvla will be intouch to see if i can kep my liceince or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but at least i now know what to do and getting some help. looks like i may be redudndant end of sept anyway so need to start looking around anyway. will keep you posted . hope to see baby sometime this week that always cheers me up i could hug her forever!! sspeak soon god bless your mate always diane xx

thanks mate all you said makes sense i kmow i am strong enough deep down to get through this guess i needed to her it from someone in my position. i have just done my registration forms and told my boss i got to find something else without computers he was fine very understanding. well i will take each day as it comes . had a great wkend with my grandaughter they coming over again on wednesday so looking forward to that :) trust me when i say love will come your way, after a 20yr marrage i didnt think i would find love again but i did and so will you :) speak to you later in week when got more things to tell you, god bless your mat diane xx

thanks for writing back, i am at this moment checking out on the net about benefits and stuff when i register!!! problem is i still need to earn a certain amount each month or we will have to move somewhere smaller and i dont think its fair on my new partner ass he works so hard and my daughter is just up the road and my eldest that lives with me still is close to her work and friends, it all seems so unfair at times, i having abit of a down day today guess when i was with emma and baby i didnt think about things now i home and bk at work which i find difficult i am bk in reality and it stinks!!! but i know thier are people worse of than me so i shouldnt complain.!! my last diagnoses was retinitus pigmentosis with rapid degeneration.!!! Any way enough of me so good to hear from you shame we dont live closer and could meet up!! I sure there is a guy just round the corner waiting to bump into you and whisk you of your feet it happened to me when i got divorced i never thought i would find someone else but i did!! got em and baby alisha over on sunday for dinner and hope its warm so em can go in the pool she loves to swim but found it hard when pregnant kept floating!!!!! ha ha my eldest has gone to newcastle for the wkend to see her boyfriend they fly bk and forth every two weeks must be love costs her a fortune but they hoping to set up home after xmas here in southend on sea as she wants to be near to me !! my partner is out tonight with the guys they go out each friday and i normally have em over so seems wierd tonight she at hers with baby and having guests and i here alone!!! you think i should be really happy but tonight i feel so low maybe its all the emotions of watching my little girl having a baby and in pain at times i would have done it for her if i could she was so brave and i am so porud of her. better go now i getting all silly and emotional hopeall ok with you will write again real soon. your mate always diane xxxx :)

About 11 years ago I began having neurological problems. 4 years ago,I had severe dementia. 3 years ago after various diagnoses, I was diagnosed with Lupus. This year I have been diagnosed with basal artery insufficiency that cause mini-strokes. After ruling out Lupus and strokes as possible causes for my vision loss and after doctors seeing retinal changes, I have now been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa. I am a single mother and I currently work part-time as a paralegal. Life hasn't been easy by far, but I still consider myself blessed to be here and to have my children near me.
Close Blindness & Visual Impairment
Type: Low VisionMy name is Kristin and I have recently been diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa. Currently I am listed as borderline legally blind and will soon find out if I crossed over to legally blind. I have lost all but my center vision in my right eye and over half of the peripheral vision in my left. Open Dementia
My name is Kristin. I am 39 with 2 kids and I have dementia. I was previously diagnosed with Lupus CNS, Lymes Disease and basal artery insufficiency that cause strokes. In 2004 I had severe dementia and my kids were taken away and I somewhat recovered with mild dementia. Recently I have become blind and just receive back my neuropsych test showing that my dementia is getting worse and doctors told me I have a degenerative brain disease. I do not know which one or what to do.
Open Alzheimer's Disease
Stage: Early OnsetI have progressive dementia which started in 2004. I have Lupus CNS, lymes disease and basilar artery insuffiency. The doctors say I have a degenerative brain disease but haven't told me the name of it. I know I am blind and have progressive dementia. I am 39 with 2 kids.
Treatments
- Aricept Somewhat Helpful
- Having trouble remembering to take Aricept but before it was working a little. The doctors said they need to put me on something stronger, but haven't gotten it yet.
