    • Close Asthma
      Type: Adult Asthma

Diagnosed with asthma about 3 years ago, but learning now that I've had it all my life (and wondering why nobody ever noticed!).

      Treatments

      Advair Somewhat Helpful
      Not as helpful as Asmanex.
      Albuterol Working / Worked
I use both nebulizer and inhaler, depending on symptoms and what's available. Side effects = shaking, headache, dry eyes, rough voice, frequent urination.
      Allegra Working / Worked
      Great stuff!
      Asmanex Working / Worked
      Better for me than Advair.
      Breathing Exercises Somewhat Helpful
Helps during an attack or when I'm SOB.
      Inhaler Working / Worked
What would I do without my inhalers??!
      Prednisone Working / Worked
Got me out of the red, but gee, the side effects aren't gentle.
      Singulair Working / Worked
I think singulair is keeping me in the green right now as long as I keep up with my allergy meds. Good stuff.
    • Close Fibromyalgia

Diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years ago. I often have a hard time accepting it. At 18 & 19, I had surgical reconstructions to correct orthopedic birth defects and now I can walk pretty well though my endurance is still limited. Triggers = lack of sleep, changes in weather (Cold), diet, and stress.

      Treatments

      Celebrex Somewhat Helpful
Helped a little, but bothered my stomach. But still better than any of the others I have tried.
      Ibuprofen Not Working
Didn't help at all. Bothered my stomach.
      Naproxen Not Working
As usual, didn't work and bothered my stomach.
      Ultram Not Working
I have a SERIOUS allergic reaction to this drug...it was a really bad situation.
      Vioxx Not Working
Didn't work and bothered my stomach.
    • Open ADHD / ADD

Trying to find out what others with ADD experience so that I can live with it more successfully and happily, accepting who I am.

      Treatments

      Ritalin Working / Worked
Took it for 3 wks. Works great, but I had serious loss of appetite and poor sleep, so trying another now.
      Ritalin Working / Worked
Generic form of Ritalin IR for ADHD, 5MG 2 tabs/day. Less side effects with IR, but not as focused as LA. Higher dose might help, but have headache when I try 3-4/day.
      Strattera Not Working
Started 5.25.07, 40MG 1 cap/day. Some nausea and tiredness, but not too bad. Thinking about taking at night to reduce daytime tiredness. Not helping ADHD.
    • Open Accidents

      Car accident 11.04.07.

      Treatments

      Celebrex Somewhat Helpful
Takes just a little of the edge off the pain so I can think (almost) straight.
      Chiropractic Adjustment Somewhat Helpful
I LOVE my chiropractor!! I've literally gone to him in tears and he's been able to put things back in place.
    • Open Lactose Intolerance

Severely Lactose Intolerant, figured it out in highschool after many years of GI problems.

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
Have to watch out for any amount of dairy or take lactase supplements for it.
      Lactaid Somewhat Helpful
CVS brand (best buy) 9,000 lactase units per caplet, ultra fast acting. Works well if eating dairy within first 25-30 minutes of taking supplement. After that, I need another pill. Still can't digest straight milk, certain cheeses, or ice cream with the supplements.
      Lactose-Free Diet Working / Worked
My GI tract is much happier when I cut out dairy altogether.
    • Open Back Pain

Back pain resulting from birth defects (extra thoracic vertebra & set of ribs, T13), and from a car accident in November 2007.

      Treatments

      Bedrest Somewhat Helpful
When you can't do anything else....
      Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
I wish I had a shirt that said, "Kiss the Chiropractor"! Very helpful.
      Naproxen Not Working
Doesn't do a thing for me, very frustrating. I take it just to cut down on some of the inflammation, but it doesn't help kill the pain.
      Stretching Working / Worked
Good stuff, helps keep the spasms on the down-low.
      Celebrex Somewhat Helpful
Definitely helps when the pain is very bad and inflammation is high.
      Biofreeze Somewhat Helpful
I hate aching pain and tolerate stabbing and other kinds of pain better than aching pain. The Biofreeze and menthol patchescremes help because the tingling takes my attention off of my aches and puts it on the feeling of the tingling in my skin. Its a good distraction.
    • Open Parkinson's Disease

My Gran may be diagnosed with PD this week. She's my best friend and like a mother to me. I'm heartbroken. TGG
