Woke to no heat this morning - not good when it's 30 degrees outside. I find when I'm cold my TN is worse. The good news is that …
53, married. Working fulltime. Diagnosed March 2008. Currently taking medication but try I to supplement that with Yoga, meditation, and knitting. I try to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and less processed foods. Here's my story: Started having what I thought was major toothache pain about 3 years ago. But since my first attack seemed an isolated incident I didn't pursue it. Just thought the bolt of lightening thru my molars meant a root canal was probably in my future. Fast forward over many months of futiletrips to the dentist, periodontist and endodontist. The last stop - the endodontist poked and prodded with sharp little tools and even did some kind of electrical stimulation test to check the root nerve and could not a problem and tried to send me on my way - at this point I was not sleeping, eating or speaking unless absolutely necessary. In front of everybody I broke down in tears and said YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE! He wrote me a RX for painkillers and told me to see an oral surgeon or neurologist. I chose a neurologist and have been seeing him since March 2008. After an MRI(negative) and blood work he put me on Lyrica. Then switched to Cymbalta, and am now on a combination of Cymbalta and Trileptal. I still have good days and bad days but nothing like the days before diagnosis. BUT I HATE BEING DEPENDENT ON MEDICATION!

New knitter and loving it! I practice yoga and like to read. Also enjoy kayaking, and summers at the beach. I knit and pray almost everyday. I want to be a source of comfort for others and for others to be a source of comfort for me.

Hi! Just checking in to see how your doing?
Great job for deciding to put yourself out their. I too am a shy person in an outgoing, loud, crazyperson's body and it was hard for me too. I have really gained insite into my disease by being here and real support by other members. I hope the same will happen to you.
thanks..., i can use all the prayers i can get. Happy valentines day :)
Happy Valentines Day! Hope you have a great PAIN FREE weekend!
Thank you for your compliment & welcome to the group! I have really grown to care about my friends here at DS - before I had them I really didn't have any support system and this disease had me in a sort of depression. Also people here helped me problem solve my medications and I am feeling better than when I first joined. In fact, I am taking cymbalta like you and I have a lot of teeth & cheek pain but when I added Nortriptyline it really helped the pain calm down. But I am not on any nerve meds right now so I needed a lot of help. But your story sounds like mine, although I went down the path of sinus surgery first (because I also had eye pain) which made me worse! Now my eye pain is gone from all of the muscle work I am having done. But, gotta go for now, I hope your pain is better XO -Holliday Oh, soft food diet really helps me - no pretzels or chewy foods ;o)
