    • About Me

My name is Kim - I am a 39 year old health care professional dx'd w/ RA (seronegative) in October, 2007. I also was diagnosed with fibromyalgia following an MVA in 1997. I try not to let the chronic pain and fatigue get me down, but some days it's hard. I am generally an optimist and being so, have chosen to reflect on each day's little victories, rather than focusing on the negatives.

I just read your post about migraines, and how you get a visual aura. I get that.....a visual aura, but mine came from my epilepsy, and I would then go blind in the eye with the aura.......or go into a grandmal seizure.

Wow! Who knew? What a telented group we have here on DS! Yeah, my Doc was thinking of sending me to a Neurologist and an ENT. So maybe the ENT will get to the bottom of this! Again Thanks! :)

Kim, Thank you so much for all the information regarding the balance problems and the inner ear issues! I greatly appreciate it!

Outstanding as usual, YES! This was only our second time, but yeah, awesome. Over 100 people arrested! And his tour bus driver got busted with aggravated DWI. Oh Dear ...... The majority of the arrests happened in a private parking lot we were in and had to WAIT over 45 minutes to get out of because of them! UGH! He rocks. Remind me some day to tell you about last August.

    • Close Rheumatoid Arthritis

My name is Kim - I am a 39 year old professional who was dx'd w/ RA in October 2007. I had complained about the burning pain, swelling, and stiffness in my hands and feet for probably two years before getting back in to see the rheumy for review. I have FMS, which was dx'd following an MVA in 1997 (dx'd in 1998), so the docs kept thinking that perhaps it was this, but later on my bloodtests started coming back with signs of inflammation.

      Treatments

      Arava Too Soon to Tell
Just started on this...makes me queasy...will just have to wait and see...
      Celebrex Somewhat Helpful
Didn't seem to work enough to continue on it - physician switched me to Vioxx instead
      Cortisone (Injection) Not Working
Had a systemic cortisone shot recently, but it really didn't help me much
      Lyrica Working / Worked
Helps keep me sleeping throughout the night and keeps the FMS flares away
      Methotrexate Somewhat Helpful
Been taking this since April, 2008. Doc upped me to 25 mg weekly last Oct...I'm starting to feel much better!
      Plaquenil Somewhat Helpful
Been using this since Oct 2007 - helps with the burning pain but not the stiffness
      Prednisone Working / Worked
Took this for a week Oct 2007 - worked great - got me out of flare
      Tylenol Somewhat Helpful
I take the arthritis extended relief kind - seems to be helping
      Vioxx Working / Worked
My doctor put me on Vioxx several years ago...helped me a lot! Too bad they took it off the market
      Voltaren Somewhat Helpful
I use the OTC Voltaren topical analgesic - seems to work pretty well for temporary relief
      Elavil Too Soon to Tell
My GP has just recently added 10 mg of Elavil in combination with my current Paxil tx to help me sleep better and hopefully help with my fibro pain
