Close Anxiety
I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder and have been seeing a psychiatrist for about 8 years. I am currently taking medication to help with my symptoms.
Treatments
- Ativan Somewhat Helpful
- It made me irratable and groggy, but helped me to sleep.
- St. John\'s Wort Working / Worked
- Trazodone Somewhat Helpful
- It helps me to sleep when taken in small doses, but also gives me nightmares.
- Valium Working / Worked
- Works to calm me when taken in small doses, otherwise puts me to sleep and also causes nightmares.
- Xanax Not Working
- I tried it previously, but had many negative side effects, such as unconsciousness.
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- I am taking the generic form, and find it just about as effective as the brand name drug.
Close Asthma
Type: Adult AsthmaI have had bronchial asthma ever since I can remember, and was hospitalized when I was in 3rd grade. Today it is pretty much under control, thanks to medication.
Treatments
- Accolate Working / Worked
- I liked this medication; I used it about 8 years ago.
- Advair Not Working
- I did not like the powder form.
- Albuterol Working / Worked
- I have used this as my rescue inhaler for many years, until it was discontinued recently.
- Flovent Somewhat Helpful
- It seems to help prevent attacks, but I wish I did not have to have the bother of taking it 2 times a day and having to rinse my mouth out every time.
- Immunotherapy Not Working
- My pediatrician had me take a round of allergy shots, but these did not help - I was eventually hospitalized after an attack.
- Inhaler Working / Worked
- same as Albuterol
- Singulair Somewhat Helpful
- I was taking this by itself until my doctor recommended that I also take an inhaled steroid with it.
- Theophylline Working / Worked
- I used to take this as a child.
- Xopenex Somewhat Helpful
- Seems to help as my new rescue inhaler, but gives me heartburn and keeps me awake.
Open Hypothyroidism
After gaining some weight a few years ago and also being told my ovaries had failed early, my doctor told me that I was hypothyroid. I take several medicines, but am still gaining weight, and it is a struggle to lose.
Treatments
- Armour Thyroid Not Working
- It does not seem to be working, as I am still gaining weight even after increasing my dosage.
Open Cocaine Addiction & Recovery
I was addicted to crack cocaine for 2 years, and finally entered a Christian street shelter in 1998. I have never touched cocaine again.
Treatments
- Residential Treatment Center Working / Worked
- Stayed in Reconciliation Outreach in Dallas TX from 1998-99 - narcotic-free still.
Open Menopause
I experienced Premature Ovarian Failure several years ago, and am currently on hormones.
Treatments
- Bioidentical Hormones Somewhat Helpful
- Taking Bi-Est, which seems to help some with the symptoms.
- Black Cohosh Not Working
- Tried this, did not do anything much.
- Testosterone Not Working
- My doctor prescribed this for my decreased sexual drive - so far nothing has changed.
