I am 11 years old, I am going into the 7 grade. I have 2 step-sisters, 1 step-brother, 2real sisters and 1 real brother. I like to play with my friends. I like to swim and ride bikes.I have scoliosis and will be having back surgery in a month or 2. I am not really scared but i am nervous it isn't the first time i will have been cut or poked by something from the doctors on 6/12/08 i had to go in for a MRI it was not fun at all. I was put on an IV even though i was told i didn't need one. I was put into the smallest tube u would be able to fit in and still be able to breath.It was really hot and strange inside there but after the doctors run a few tests on you they take you out of the tube to give you some weird gel that goes inside the IV and it makes your arm feel really weird i cried a little while so they took me out of the tube and let me calm down for a moment.Once i did they put me right back in the tube and ran some more tests on me.By the time i got out which was 2 hours later i had a headache because the beeps and hums and other noises are so loud and all you have in your ears are little earplugs that don't really work.I have had so many tests on me done.I have had so far 2 MRI's, 2 biopses, and a pet scan. I know i havnt been on for a while, but i had my surgery over the summer. I had to have metal rods screwed into my spine and then they cut out a section of 6 ribs and put a plate in as a substitution. While i was in the hospital i had 3 chest tubes and 3 IV's. Only 2 days into recovery and my lung collapsed. Everyone was so scared, but i made it out!!!! I have been out of surgery for almost 2 and a half months now, i have also gone back to school and made a lot of new friends.

Close Scoliosis
I was diognosed with curviture in Feb 2007. Since then I have been through a whole lot of tests, because my curve is going in the opposite direction. I have worn a brace for a year. At my last appt with a dr. at Shinners, they say surgery. They gave me and my mom some resourses, and ideas for support. My mom does alot of research on her own. My surgurey is going to be this summer.
