Sunday, August 17, 2008 | A General Update story

Today is a better day than yesterday, much better. I literally woke up crying yesterday (because Steve spent all my money) and then I got the letter saying there will be no more money ...

Anyhow, much better day today!!

Was able to go through all the kid's closets and drawers this weekend. Found a large trash bag full of clothes that no longer fit any of them. Threw away lots of stained stuff. Now the only clothes left in their drawers are nice clothes that fit them. Will make it much easier to get dressed in the morning ...

Had to throw away all of William's PJ's because my stupid in-laws can't tell the difference between a pajama top and a t-shirt. He wore Pj's several times this past summer. I don't want him wearing pajama tops to school. I am a strong believer that teachers pay closer attention to the kids who have manners and dress well. I'm not sure teachers are conscience of doing that but I saw it over and over again with my  foster children. They decided that the kid didn't have any chance of being successful in life so why bother educating the kid.

William is sooooooooooooooooo excited about school. He said last night that he needs a "wake-up clock". Hopefully they aren't going to be too expensive at Walmart.

I just remembered something. My father and my sister sent Steven $200 for his birthday (to buy a computer) and they sent Becca NOTHING for her birthday this past week. How do I politely remind them ??????????????????? That would be half of a computer for her. William's birthday is arounf the corner, I don't expect them to send William $200 but Becca .... she's nearly the same age as Steven.

Friday I took William to the post office. We made a big deal about buying the stamps and the postal lady stamped "do not bend" on the envelope and then William and I found a big blue box to put the letter in. I explained that a truck will bring the letter to his grandmother. A couple of hours later in Columbia William saw a postal truck (a small white one that delivers locally). He got all excited,, "Mom is that the truck that is going to bring Grandma her letter up north?"

William calls New York and Vermont "up North". Not sure he knows where his grandmother lives (Kentucky) Right now he thinks I just write "Grandma" on the envelope and the mail man somehow knows who that is! LOL

Tonight the kid's go to bed early so they can be ready for the bus that comes at 6:15 AM. I am going to have some cranky kids in need of naps tomorrow afternoon. The kids are in the habit of going to bed no earlier than midnight, even William and Paulina.  I have been trying to get them to bed earlier for 3 weeks now. They go to the bedrooms early but they don't fall asleep early.

Shoot! I meant to write "Are your children" not "Our your children" Why do we not have "Edit" on all pages we write in DS? Therefore, we can correct our mistakes..Oh well...

Oh good luck with school, I bet they're all really excited with making new friends. Just tactfully mention ages and birthdays and see if you get a computer xxx
