I just gotta vent.
If you tuned in last time, I had to reschedule an ortho appt. in order to schedule picking up MRI films myself to bring to Dr. P. So this morning I called the MRI place and told them I need to come get films Tuesday for the new appt. on Wed. Well, the nice lady explained, they don't DO films...CD or internet. She asked who my Dr is and said Oh! where he works he can get my stuff online. Just in case, she gave me the name and phone # of their web guy to give to Dr. P.
So, I call Dr. P's receptionist and tell her all this, and she was not so nice, and she came back with "Dr. Parkinson prefers film, and if you are going to have surgery then you will have to have films printed before then."
MEANWHILE..... Cedar gave me the flu back at, like, August 23rd, and I have never stopped coughing from it. Right before the CO trip, I got a Z-Pak from the neighborhood "doc-in-the-box" and used it in Colorado, and was a little better for those days, but as soon as we landed in the nasty Oklahoma air all the lung problems came back. It's not getting better, just worse, and now I think I have a sinus infection, too.
Finally this morning I called my GP to make an appointment--not even for today, really, but during next week, hoping I could get a time when both boys are in school. Well, my Dr is not in at all next week. You know, it's funny but she is NEVER in when I try to get an appointment over there. I have only seen her 1 time, for my 'new patient visit' and physical a year and 1/2 ago, and ever since I have not been able to get appointments with her.
So, now I'm shopping around for a new GP, too, cuz I don't know what else to do. I mean, I have actually thought of randomly scheduling appts. with her throughout the winter and then just cancelling them if I am well!
But for now I have an appt. with this Dr for Oct. 20. I don't know if I can make it til then or will have no choice but to go back to the doc-in-a-box. (more expensive)
I need to call the insurance company and work out what SSRI they will pay for me to have and then let my ob-gyn know, but after the luck I am having so far today, I can't bring myself to make the call!

I was so afraid this would get lost in the many messages on the board I have posted it here. This kind of brings it …
You know what would fix all of this? Privatizing health care and giving tax breaks to insurance companies to increase their profits, instead of socializing health care with some liberal "single-payer" universal program. ;)

Honestly...the size and clarity of pictures on a computer screen are not adequate for the physician to make appropriate decisions regarding your spine. The Neurosurgeon I worked for was exactly like your Dr. P....films only. They should explain things a little better to you though. But seriously, I wouldn't want anyone deciding to do surgery from the picture on a computer screen. Dr. F, the guy I worked with, he had me hang all the films and we went through them one by one...segment by segment...slice by slice...he made notations in grease pencil right on the films and then made ME hang on to the films and hand-carry them over to the OR so nothing got misplaced. They are a tad neurotic about films, but...again, if it was my back, I want the most OCD guy on the planet. Good luck!

I don't care - I wasn't upset with Dr. P, if he wants film I think he should get it. I was upset with the radiologists for refusing to provide that, and Dr. P's receptionist was a bit of a beeyotch to me when I was caught in the middle -- it wasn't MY fault!
