    • Close Back Pain

It began with hip pain but my hips are fine. Started 8 years ago with my 1st pregnancy, and despite attempts to get a diagnosis & proper treatment, this got worse and worse. Sometimes I can't even walk! FINALLY last summer, I got a decent ortho Dr who sent me for MRIs. Spondylolisthesis. I have 2 degenerating vertebrae constantly inflaming my nerve roots, which inflames EVERYthing.

      Treatments

      Bedrest Somewhat Helpful
This is NOT a fix, of course, it is more that I have to rest if it gets real bad.
      Chiropractic Adjustment Somewhat Helpful
After about a month of treatments I'm in good shape, but you have to keep going. This is not a cure, just a real expensive aspirin.
      Cortisone (Injection) Somewhat Helpful
      Feels great...for a coupla days.
Epidural Injection Too Soon to Tell
I had 1 epi, and it was WONDERFUL. I had 4 pain-free weeks and could do anything. But I went for a 2nd and it did NOTHING at all. I would try a 3rd, but it is a new year and we are on deductible option insurance, epidural will cost me $600 I don't have right now. Keep putting it off. Do I want to spend $600 on something that might not work??
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
This does take the pain away, but because of the addiction factor I am rarely prescribed this.
      Ibuprofen Not Working
Ha. My problem is inflammation, but this stuff just isn't strong enough (and I'll take over the max ammount).
      Physical Therapy Not Working
I learned some techniques, but this was before I got a decent diagnosis. So the PT I learned was really for a different condition than what it turns out I have.
      Relaxation Working / Worked
SURE the inflammation goes down, but I can't sit on my ass all my life!!
      Stretching Working / Worked
Stretching helps with the hip pain, because the inflammation gives me chronic bursitis down my left leg. Stretching is better than nothing, but VERY time-consuming. Physical therapist once told me I should do a certain set of stretches 3x a day! Who does that?!?
      TENS Somewhat Helpful
This feels good at the time, and for about a day, but that's all.
      Ultram Working / Worked
This stuff is amazing...I can wake up unable to walk, take one, and in an hour I'm running around. No bad side effects, either.
    • Close Parents of Children with ADHD

My 1st son was diagnosed at age 3 by 2 professionals as "bipolar". We took him to a 3rd who diagnosed ADHD, and that seemed more correct to us. He was going to fail 1st grade so we went ahead and put him on Ritalin. He just finished 2nd grade as Top Boy in his class, and won a trophy for most AR points in 2nd grade! Even better, he is sweet, cooperative, smart, funny...BUT, that is on the Ritalin. Can't be on it 24/7. And it costs him his appetite so he is underweight. We still struggle.

    • Open Chronic Pain

I have had spondylolisthesis for 9 years and it just gets progressively worse. I'm at a point where I need to have spinal fusion surgery, but we lost our health insurance. A side effect of the spondy is CONSTANT bursitis in my left hip and down my left thigh... Now, for the first time ever, the bursitis has radiated into my left knee.
