Last Wendsday afternoon I started to have abdominal pains. I just brushed it off as gas and continued on but by 6:00pm they were so bad that I called 911 and was rushed to the ER. They decide to do blood test and a cat scan. I was in such pain that I could not sit still so they gave me a shot of dilauded around 8:30pm. They tried to get a blood sugar reading but it was too high to get a reading on thier meter. Then they figured that I had pancreatitist because one of the blood test showed that my blood sugar was at 675 and show elevated enzymes for pancreatitist so they decide not to do the cat scan but not before I had to drink 4 cups of a nasty tasting dye. I told them that I have had blood sugars that high and higher and nothing like this had happened before but that fell on deaf ears and they admitted me to the hospital to get my blood sugars down. I was lying ther in the ER waiting for a room upstairs when the dilauded started to wear off about midnight. They gave me another shot and and the first doctor was going off shift so another doctor came in to check on how I was doingand I said I was fine until the pain medication wore foo then I was in hell. I told him the same thing I told the other doctor about the blood sugar and he examined me and and went off, I had just dosed off and about 2:00am the guy from the cat scan department was back and said that they were going to do the cat scan because of what I said. meanwhile the dye that I had taken earlier in the evening had made me vomit up this purple stuff and He wanted me to drink more. They did the the cat scan and brought me back to the ER and I started to feel sick again. When the nurse came in I told her that I would need the bucket again but she said I wouldn't because the cat scan showed a small bowel blockage and the surgeon want to put in a ng tube and thats what she was there to do. I said what's a ng tube and she said it was a tube that the put up your nose and down into your stomach to suck out everything in your stomach and releave pressure on the bowels. She said by doing this it may clear the blockage and they wouldn't have to do surgery. They got the tube in (second worst event in my life the first was waking up from open heart surgery with all those tubes down my throat), and I finally got a room about 3am. A day and ahalf later the tube was still up my nose but the good news was that it was working I had no pain in my abdomine, bad news was I hadn't eaten or slept in two days and I was tired and hungry. The doctor came in Friday morning about 10:30 and said that they would take the tube out later that afternoon and they would put me on a clear liquid diet to see what happens then release me Saturday morning. He left and then came back 10 minutes later and said I'm taking the tube out now. He took the tube out and when lunch came at 12:30 it was a full liquid diet not a clear liquid so the nurse said not to eat until she check the doctos orders, ( like she was going to get that food away from me after not eating for two days), but she came back and said he must have changed his mind that it was ok to eat, I was already half done by the time she got back. About 1:30 the doctor came back and asked how I was feeling and I said good that there was no pain or nausa. He said do you want to go home and I said yes and I was released about 6:30pm that night. I am feelin much better ans I am on solid food .
