i have had 2 maybe 3 bad attacks in two years since my surgery but i have to keep things balanced. lots of rest, NO STRESS, maint meds. i can tell if i am pushing it and then rest in the afternoons or take a whole day and cool it. i knew mine would not be a cure but something to help me manage my pain. with the holidays coming i will have to keep myself in check not to put myself in a flare up. where does your family live here in the states? i flew for the first time since surgery in sept. i had them hand pat me down. no a cute guy didn't do it a manly woman did. hahaahaha anyway my husband wanted to know why they didn't put me in a room to do it for privacy. i told him i didn't want to go in a room alone with anyone patting me down. but everyone was so nice and everything went well. i have to stay away from anything magnetic so it doesn't pull the system off the lining of my brain. how bionic of me. but it was worth the surgery and hopefully you will feel the same when you get some more time behind you. it's so hard to be patient when you are miserable isn't it? i got a second condition on the other side of my face in june this year. it is called ramseys hunt syndrome. ugh! it's like having shingles and bells palsy at the same time. but you really don't heal as well. my spec neur in chicago told me to give it another 4-5 months and see if the nerves will heal some more and if my ear will settle down. he told me he could also put another system on the other side of my head for this pain. hopefully it will get better each day and we won't have to discuss that! i am so sorry to hear of the lady with bilateral pain. do they not want to do surgery because it won't help or her age or some other reason? well blessings for a pain free day and speedy recovery. God loves you and is watching over you julie

thanks for the update. i have atypical trigeminal MVD does nothing for this since there is nothing pressing on tn nerve. i had Motor Cortex Surgery two years ago. and dr's are right it take a year to recover. but the second year you feel even better. mcs has worked for me. it's a stimulator that interrupts the pain signal sent down the trigeminal nerve to the brain. it is not a cure for me. but it has really helped. i still take maint. meds daily. but nothing like it was before surgery. blessings for healing and rest, rest, rest!! it is the only thing you can do to help yourself heal. so many people do too much too soon. will you be able to work? julie

Hi Jannice, Which surgery is that? And how are you feeling? Thank you for the well wishes. Is it for the Trigeminal Neuralgia? I'd be interested in hearing more about it, and how you are making out with it. Hugs and God Bless Kathie
