wow, after 7 years of many disease names and doctors I am diagnosed with the above. also raynauds, scerlederma polymiotis, fibromyalgia, copd, ob. sleep apnea, arthritis, central and peripheral, autonomic nervous system damage. Rhumotologist wants to start me on cymbalta to halp with the fibro pain, and plaquenil after my eye exam for visual fields. I feel after 7 years I finally have an answer that makes sense. However, the diseases have been going on for so long, that every part of my body is damage, except for my kidney, (knock on wood). I was so tired of going to doctors. I was a puzzle to everyone who saw me. I had so many issues. I was hard to pin point just one. Now I know why, its because I had them all. Maybe if I had followed up and traveled to a major hospital sooner, I would have gotten my answers sooner. I have overwhelming symptoms for each of the diseases, but my blood work is interterminate. I was put on predisone months back for a knee issue and to mine and my doctors surprise, it really helped my other problems. Maybe rhumy is going in the right direction. She says it is unusual to have the blood work be normal and still have overwhelming sysmptoms. I stressed I was not the usual patient. She looked outside the box. It is so important for us to be our own health advocates. To question things when we are not comfortable with the answers. I have found in my many trips to ER and diagnostic testing that what is reported to the patient is very tunnel visioned. over the years I have collected my medical records, and x-ray and ct-reports from hospitals and mri locations. If I went in for a diagnostic mri for migraine, they told me the mri showed nothing that would cause a migraine issue to my extent. When I picked up the report it stated everything was normal except for small vessel brain disease. A ct. for abdominal pain showed nothing wrong with my liver, but when I collected the report from the hospital, it showed I had a blood clot in my ovarian vein. This should have been told to me. Between the time of the ct. and the reports getting to my hands 4 months had passed. When I showed this report to my primary, he put me on coumadin therapy for life. You can see where I am going with this. This was my 2nd blood clot. How can we get medical professionals to read the entire report and state exactly what is on the report to us at that time. Just reporting on the issue problem at hand is poor medicine. If a patient is in the ER for chest pains, and it is ruled out he did not have a heart attack. He is sent home. Weeks later he asks for a copy of the hospital report to find it stating he has an enlarged heart. How can we change this.
