Close Gambling Addiction & Recovery
I have been compulive gambling now for over 15 years. I constantly feel like miserable because of it. I have tried to stop on many occasions in the past but thus far have not managed to stay away for very long. I have many debts but fortunately have a decent job which allows me to pay my bills and service some of these debts. It can still be pretty depressing though! I have just gone back to GA last night to try again!
Treatments
- Distancing Somewhat Helpful
- I have self excluded from the bookies in my home and surrounding towns. I did try going in to place a bet in a couple of those shops and was immediatley asked to leave.
- Gamblers Anonymous Somewhat Helpful
- I have stayed off a bet (a day at a time) for up to 8 weeks with the help of GA but I still see getting to the meetings as a bit of a chore! I'm not sure why this is but I am trying to change my way of thinking on this.
