About Me
48 year old Mom and Grandma, otherwise active and healthy, 5 months of symptoms, which originally were thought to be Asthma....after many tests, and different drug treatments, found out that I actually have LPR (and/or GERD). Finally starting to get under control with PPI's (80mg daily).

thank you so much with youre message and hug.My Dr. will not give me anything for quitting smoking so I had to see my pulmanary Dr. but what makes it worse is that my husband smokes and I think that I have bi-polar and every other day I get into these moods that I cant take it anymore and I get moody, tired and cant take it anymore. There is no where for me to go for real help for I cannot take any antidepression meds for they make me suididal and Im afraid even to take a narcotic med for the pain in my right hip and knee and I have to stick with extra strength tyenol and that doesnt really work. I dont know what to do anymore ? My life seems like a mess at this time of my life and I have to think of me but I have a son too to worry about and bills are pilling up.
Good Luck
Glad somethings working for you. Your mood will improve, give it some time. Robin

Close GERD & Heartburn
5 months of chest pressure, then burning, crud in throat and "choking feeling". First thought it was asthma but unresponsive to treatment. Had heart checked, lung x-rays and CT scan, ENT check, then finally upper endo (EGD) with GI Dr. Diagnoses seems to be LPR (and/or GERD). Finally finding relief with 80mg Nexium per day (2x40mg).
Treatments
- Aciphex Somewhat Helpful
- worked for a short time on one pill, then 2x a day...seemed to be working, then ineffective
- Antacids Working / Worked
- Gaviscon is the best..helps a lot
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- have completely cut out all coffe/tea (even decaf and herbal), alcholol, carbonated drinks, chocolate, spicy foods, citrus, tomatoes, mint, high fat foods... helped at first, but once burn is gone will resume some of these foods as Dr. doesn't think it will make a long term difference.
- Dietary Modification Somewhat Helpful
- See avoiding certain foods...also have only small meals and no eating after 7pm
- Nexium Working / Worked
- Finally somethign that works!! 40mg twice daily is helping. On this for two weeks and gradually feeling better.
- Prilosec Somewhat Helpful
- had 1 a day, then 2....quit working after a couple of weeks so moved to Aciphex
- Raising Bed Position Working / Worked
- have a long wedge../.this helps
