I think I may have a slight drinking problem. I need someone who is wise to tell it like it is, to kick my ass and call me on my bullshit. I know there are such mentors here on DS because I've seen them in action.

12 Step Program Working / Worked

My twelve step program is one of my own understanding, just like my God.

AA Meetings Not Working

I'm a memeber of AA and have been for many years. I work my own program, different from many other members' programs, and I sponsor whenever I have a year or more of sobriety. Even when I'm drinking, I try to work most of the daily steps.

Antabuse Too Soon to Tell

The Antabuse I have taken looks so much like aspirin that I was able to pretend to take it in front of my wife and drink anyway. I also found that I could take a full dose of Antabuse daily and all that happened to me when I drank was fifteen minutes of a flushed face and a little itching, then it went away and I got smashed.

Cold Turkey Working / Worked

When I quit by God's grace, it's cold turkey. But then two of my favorites are cold turkey and cold pizza.

Detox Somewhat Helpful

Detox, being in my interpretation, a place with beds to sleep it off, throw up, listen to other drunks snore, fart, cough and talk in their sleep, I"ve been there a few times.

Outpatient Treatment Program Not Working

Just finished four months of outpatient treatment. I had to take a bus there two days/week, but found the treatment group to be an interesting diversions where I learned some new information.

Sleep Working / Worked

I always drink to the point of passing out. When I nap, it's hard to bring a bottle up to my mouth.

Willpower Working / Worked

I'm a member of AA who believes I, also, have a say in whether or not I choose to drink. Should I choose to drink, knowing what I know, that's on me. When I don't, that's on me too. I ask God for the power and He gives it to me just like it says in the Bigt Book.
