Ozark, Call Corporate on this one. If you can not work, they have to make accommodations for you, its the law.

HI Ozarksgirl. I am an HR Director for several of our family owned companies. If you have been with the company for over 12 months and have worked over 1,000 hours in that period, you are entitled to unpaid FMLA. YOu can take intermittent leave for a serious health condition (this would probobly fit that category). This law protects you so that if you are out sick on one of those really bad days, you should be able to go home or take the day off and your job is fairly protected. There is not much an employer can do to fight unless they are documenting poor performance and possibly a mass lay off. I myself am struggling with not physically being at work all of the time due to RA and wondering if I am doing more harm than good for my HR staff. It's not easy. But on the days you really don't feel well and don't want to deal w/ that persons insensitivities, you should be legally able to take a body/mental health day. I am very sensitive to anyone in our company that has an serious illness. The last thing I want them thinking about is losing their job. I am not sure if this helps you at all. You may need to go to HR because they should understand your dilemna and speak to that person. If the company is respectful, they woulod not want a supervisor saying things to you about your health, esopecially in an open setting where someone else can hear. Sorry this is so long. If you need any help with this, please let me know. Good luck! VGiuffre

Ozarkgirl, Sarah Palin is a pain - I'm glad that cracked you up. Laughter is one of the nicest things we can do for ourselves. Have a great rest of the week! Many hugs, Lynne

Ozarkgirl, Your not alone. I was struck with RA at 37, I can't imagine dealing with it at your age. Real friends, ones worth keeping will understand. I'm adding you to my prayer list, hope that's okay. Hang in there. Take it one day at a time. (one hour if necessary :)
