Spoke too soon... Mood
Monday, July 6, 2009

Well, I woke up today to the nursing home calling to inform me that my mother was taken by ambulance to the ER.

Apparently she passed out and clunked her head while using the toilet this morning.  Luckily a nurse was in there with her.

After 6 hours in the ER it was determined that the nursing home doctor (ie:quack.....and not her regular wonderful primary physician) was giving her blood pressure medication and had her on nitro!!!!  She need neither one of these meds since her blood pressure is typically low anyways and she has no heart disease.

So the ER doc called him to discontinue use of these two meds.  DUH!!!!

My mom has been having moments of complete loopiness for the past week.  I have continued to question this and was not told until today that she was on these meds!!!  So when I questioned the nurse practicitioner at the nursing home why she was being given these meds when her bp is low she referred to the docs orders.  Passing the buck.

So tomorrow guess who is going to make an appearance at the nursing home.  :)

ME!

Plus my moms dialysis nurse from her nephrologists office is going to give them a what for.  She deals with my mom regularly since my mom does home dialysis.  We talk at least weekly.  She is a wonderful person!  A true patient advocate.  Anyways, she is ordering via the nephrologist that the nursing home check in DAILY with them!  HA!  That'll learn em!  :)

I'm so tired of incompetent people.

How totally ridiculous is that ... I mean, seriously!! If it's not one thing ... it's about 3 million others. I hope your Mom begins to improve some soon. ~Tracey

Unfortunately the good majority of docts are quacks, that won't take the time of day to really know their patients, I'm glad your mom as you to see to her getting the best care, for herself.
I hope she will be fine, from this fall.
Poor women, it's so sad that we eventually get so old and frail, that we need constant care.
So sad, You are a great person my friend, I truly admire you.
    Love & Respect,
