Here I am, back in Ft. Lauderdale, the place where I grew up and where the only thing that matters is my mother. (Well, okay, so the beach is here...) I hope to be able to take Destinee to see what a REAL beach looks like and to, once again, feel the sand and water of the Atlantic on my feet.
Growing up, this was my refuge, my calm place, the source of my very life. When the world threatened to destroy me, I'd go the the quietest part of the beach, plop my butt in the sand and learn how to breathe again. Watching the waves and hearing their sound as they reached the shore soothed my soul and reminded me I was just a tiny speck of life in a vast and crazy world. Now, I'm a much larger speck and this place still lures me with its magic. As I said, it's the only thing I miss about this place besides my mother.
Destinee is a first-rate traveler. There was no whining, no complaining, no 'are we there yet'. Our only issue - and it is constant - is the seatbelt. She wants it off or as loose as possible and I can't go for that. She is missing her mom and desperate to see her little brother. It willl be weeks, however, until she gets more than seeing him in pictures. There are no visitors to the NICU especially with H1N1 floating around. The fact that she has already had it makes no difference: rules are rules. We are told that our little Aidan will be home for Christmas and that's all any of us really need.
Love to all -
B

Aww, I'm happy the baby will be home for Christmas - that's such good news.
Enjoy your time away with Destinee, & I understand the seatbelt situation -
Wonder how tall she is. I'm short, and seatbelts tie me at the neck, I have to constantly adjust the strap, lol. Speck, you're not a speck now or ever. Have a nice trip honey - I'm about an hour from the Atlantic here in Jersey - love you,

Enjoy those quiet times with sand between your toes. Love and energy being sent daily to little Aiden and Cyndi. Give your mom a special hug and think of me.....it will be as if I'm hugging my mom. Glad Destinee was such a good traveler. How did Elmo do?

Have a great time. Enjoy the Ocean. Agree, I have the same thoughts looking at the Ocean. A tiny speck of life we are. Next time you want to see the Ocean. Come to my house. I'm 8 miles away. I'll be waiting for you. Drive up the coast to my house.
My thoughts are with Aiden. Glad he will be home. What a wonderful Christmas gift. Love & Hugs...

Enjoy your time. We used to live in Ft Lauderdale many years ago. Actually my oldest son Brandon was born in Ft Lauderdale at Holy Cross hospital, and Justin was born in Boynton Beach. I was born in West Pal Beach.
The beach is okay, but I'm always glad to get back home. Glad to hear the new little one will be home for Christmas!

I can identify with the peaceful sounds of the waves, although for me, it is the Chesapeake Bay. Memories abound all of my life of eating our famous blue crabs. Enjoy your time with Destinee, my friend. Love, Belinda
