MY FIVE YEAR OLD SON HAS JUST RECENTLY BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH ADHD.ALTHOUGH I ALWAYS KNEW THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG IT HAS BEEN HARD ACCEPTING THAT HE HAS THIS CONDITION AND COMING TO TERMS WITH IT. I FEEL AS IF I NEED OTHER PARENTS TO TALK TO ABOUT IT SO I DONT FEEL SO ALONE IN LIVING WITH THIS CONDITION WITH MY SON. I HATE GIVING HIM HIS MEDICATION EVERY MORNING AND HAVE RECEIVED ALOT OF NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ON MY DECISION TO DO SO,BUT AS HIS MUM I FEEL I HAVE TO.

I'm sending a hug because I have not hugged another person but my kids and my husband. I know a good hug goes along way. It won't make everything better but it lets you know there is someone out there that understand what your going through and what your talking about. I want to say Thank you for letting your be the first one I read when I found this site. I thought I was reading my life. I'm give you two hugs while I cry for all of us.

I know what you are talking about no support from family on ADHD. My family think I just need to give him a good spanking and ground him. I told them they could take him for just 1 week and try their way with no meds and see how they feel then. I am still waiting and he is now 11. It is a struggle every day and you are right we are doing the best we can do. Good luck Sharon

I HAVE 2 CHILDREN AGED 5 AND 3. MY5 YEAR OLD SON WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH ADHD, I AM ACCEPTING THE CONDITION AND DOING EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO IMPROVE HIS QUALITY OF LIFE, WHICH INCLUDES MEDICATION, BUT I FIND I AM NOT GETTING THE SUPPORT I NEED AND WANT WANT FROM FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS ON MY DECISION TO MEDICATE MY SON.THEY ARE NOT THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE WITH THIS CONDITION AND THE ABUSE (VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY) ON A DAILY BASIS.MOST PEOPLE I HAVE SPOKEN TO JUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS SPOILT
