About Me
I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 3. My family is very close and we would do anything to help eachother. My boyfriend and I have been together for more than 14 years and we are extremely close. I am a nurse but havent been able to work since my spinal fusion L5/S1. After the fusion my pain has gotten way worse and my left leg is numb and often gives out on me. I am here looking to find other people like me that are fighting to get thier life back.

Interests
Well lets see. I love to help people. I am a Capricorn so I love the water and the beach. Playing around on the computer is fun. I recently got up enough nerve to start a potted garden to spruce up my yard but mostly to spruce up my spirits, I recently added a bird bath and a water fountain. I have really never had a green thumb but nock on wood everything is going great. I like to read mysteries mostly but lately I have been reading alot of spiritual stuff. I am pretty crafty and have been cross stitching for my mom and gran daughter. I do lots of crafts with my grandson. My daughter and I have one night a month that we meet up with other women from our church and do scrap booking. It is so much fun but takes forever. We are usually there about 6 hours. We started scrap booking when she was 8 years old but dont always do it, however we never miss our night with the girls from the church. My home is also another passion of mine. I love to fiddle around and create a very pleasant environment. I think that pretty much covers it.

Thanks for thinking of me. It is so horrible to feel like you are in the last 1% of everything, that things that SHOULDNT happen always do. The only thing we can do is try to move on with life best we can i suppose, but that does not make it any less painful. I hope that life distracts you from your pain and peace comes to you quickly.

Thanks for the flowers!!!! I was in the hospital getting my 5th spinal surgery! :-( I got out on Thursday (yesterday) and I am at home recovering. Thanks for the flowers and for worrying about me. Hugs,

I am sorry your surgery didn't work. One drug that they tried for me was Desipriamine. I couldn't take it but it is also known as Elavil and it is supposed to be good for spinal nerve pain. I hope you get some relief. I was on Kadian for awhile but it gave me diverticulitis and I wound up with a bowel resection. I hope you can find the right combination of meds to help you. Close Chronic Pain
I have had severe back pain for over 11 years now. Up until last year most doctors pretty much ignored my back pain and numbness in my left leg. The pain finally got the attention of the doctors when I went numb in the saddle area and then started to lose bodily functions. A discogram found that I had grade 5 annular tears in L5/S1. Since the surgery I have been getting progressively worse. I am on alot of very strong pain meds and a tens unit but nothing seems to help. Any ideas would be great.
Treatments
- Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
- Only helped my neck. Always made my low back worse. Cant do it now with the new hardware in my back.
- Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
- Helps with the depression a little. The PM doc raised it to help with the pain. It doesnt really seem to be working
- Heat Working / Worked
- Works when its on. Relief ends when heat is removed but it feels great.
- Hydrocodone Not Working
- Tried it, not very helpful.
- Lidoderm Not Working
- Never helped a bit. Very expensive too. And they always fell off.
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- It took a little while but I am finally getting relief. I cant believe it because so far NOTHING has helped.
- Morphine Somewhat Helpful
- I take Kadian. It seems to help a little bit
- Naproxen Not Working
- Didn't help a bit. I have been on so many NSAIDS including patches and none help at all. Patches just fall off. Naprosyn made me nausiated.
- Nerve Blocks Considering
- Having an epidural in a couple weeks if my insurance doesnt cancel on me
- Neurontin Not Working
- Tried it before the Lyrica because insurance wouldnt allow Lyrica until I failed at neurontin. It didnt do anything for my pain. I am now on Lyrica and its working
- Physical Therapy Not Working
- I was in physical 3 times,what a joke
- TENS Working / Worked
- Ahh..worked when it was on but relief ended as soon as I turned it off. Just started using it again since my surgery. The cords drive me crazy and the pads dont stick real well.
- Oxymorphone Working / Worked
- I take Opana ER and IR. This is actually my 2nd time taking it. The first time I tried it I didnt give it enough credit and TRIED to find something that would work better. Well needless to say I am now back on it and find that it works best when taken at regular scheduled times. I also dont get any kind of euphoric feeling from it.

I tried to put journaling in the treatment section below but for some reason it wouldnt stay in there, so I added it here because I think this is helping me more than anything else. I love journaling. I dont just write on plain paper all the time though. I like to dress it up with color,pictures,and anything that makes it fun. I also dont just write in straight lines. I get creative by writing in circles,waves,and even squares around the page. Its fun and helps me relax

- This didnt help at all and they kept falling off,and gave me hot flashes from out of this world (yuck)
Open Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
I have a very dear friend that suffers from RSD so I joind a group to learn more about it. She also thinks I have it so I will talk to my dr about it. I hope she is wrong because it is a very heartbreaking disease. If you have it I am so sorry and I am here if you ever want to talk.
