A Thanksgiving Poem
I wrote this poem for Thanksgiving last year, but I think it's still appropriate:

I'm a 48-year-old electronics design engineer working in space sciences research. Aside from having the perfect job for me, I also have a wonderful husband of 21 years, and a wonderful 20 year old son. Everything was going great; then I was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson's Disease in September of 2006. I love to play musical instruments, especially the ukulele. I also love to draw and do crafts. I'm determined to keep doing these things and not let PD run my life.

My brain MRI came back as normal as can be. Whew! I am so relieved. I didn't even realize that I was that worried about …

This is what friends here are all about, we got yer' back!
" Stand By Me By Ben E. KIng "
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, oh I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
So darlin', darlin', stand by me, Oh stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
or the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me
----- guitar -----
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, oh stand, stand by me
Stopping by to say hi, long time no see and stuff... sending happy thoughts to you!
Well...my biopsy was negative for Sjogren's...so, guess this is ALL Fibro...unless a miracle happens and one of my 'MANY' doctors comes across another answer. Thanks for all your support & concern! Hope you have a great weekend! ;)

It started with tremor, slowness and stiffness in my left hand. It was difficult to type and play my ukulele. I had been struggling with fatigue, weakness, dizziness and GI symptoms for over a year, and had seen a lot of specialists, including a neurologist who ordered a brain MRI. This test was normal; no MS, no brain abnormalities at all. When the tremor started, I went back to him, and he diagnosed me with PD. Shock! Denial! Slow acceptance. I feel better now, though.
I've had anemia twice in the last couple of years (that I know of). I've had a colonoscopy and an upper GI endoscopy, and everything's normal. No one can figure out why this happens.
I've been having migraines for years, but now the doctor thinks I might be having auras which include vertigo, nausea, vomiting and olfactory hallucinations. I also have Parkinson's Disease, but the neurologist thinks that is unrelated.
I am a Parkinson's patient, and I recently signed up for the Parkinson's genetics project at 23andMe. As a result, I learned that I have 2 copies of the mutated H63D gene, which puts me at risk for hemochromatosis
