Support Groups
Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I have Crohn's Disease. I have had it since I was 15. It is mainly in the lower abdominal region. I have never been part of a support group and am now in need of people who can help me that understand what I am going through. Hopefully my stories and tips can help you too. No one I know understands what we go through.
Treatments
- Asacol Working / Worked
- I have taken Pentasa since I was diagnosed. Its like a Tylenol for your intestines. It works it helps.
- Asacol Somewhat Helpful
- It helped, but gave me terrible headaches.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- No pineapple, no fresh green beans, no nuts/grains/whole wheat, and absolutely no popcorn.
- Azathioprine Working / Worked
- I have been on Imuran since the day I was diagnosed. It seems to be great. The only down side is that because of my insurance and I can't take the generic, it is very expensive.
- Entocort Somewhat Helpful
- I am just not sure about it. I have taken it a few times, this past time was for 3 months, but I ended up having a flare-up. Therefore, I am not sure.
- Prednisone Not Working
- I took Prednisone 5 years ago and it helped (even though it makes you balloon up). I am now on it again and hope it gives me relief, but this time I know to watch what I eat better.
- Surgery Too Soon to Tell
- I had surgery summer2008, i had colon resection. It was a tough summer, but I am feeling pretty good.
