About Me
Husband has had Parkinsons for about 10 years now and it is starting to get worse...I work a full time job in a factory to keep the medical benefits of course. Glad to have it as well. He's 68, I'm 44 soon to be 45. However, when he's feeling good...he STILL has more energy and get up and go than I do...Looking for others who have been where I am and hopefully some insight and company...Thanks Sandy

Just reread your message again and am thankful for your support and interest. I've decided to try and find another Neurologist and be re evaluated. As I said my Dr. seems to have lost interest since I opted against the DBS surgery.

I think it is wonderful that you are such a great care giver. We all need a family member like you.

I'm really glad he's doing some better now but if he gets to the point of falling then his meds might not be lasting long enough or there is too much time in between doses. Mom takes 4 x day at 25/250. They have extended release versions and they have something called Comtan that is supposed to make the medicine last longer in the system. You may want to check on those things. The guy Mom sees is at the Cleveland Clinic and his specialty is PD and motion disorder. Maybe you could just go to a specialist as well and not leave the doctor you are with. Just thinking of things that might help. I really don't believe he should get to the point of being that bad before he takes his next dose of meds. Gotta get back to work now but wanted to send you this when I got your message. Hope it might be of some help.

Hi Sandy, I don't get on DS as much anymore. I don't have enough time. I am hoping things will slow down some soon though. I like to be able to give help and encouragement when I can b/c I've received so much from so many on here. People who REALLY understand. We are pretty peaceful here - update in journal. I'm so sorry to read about your husband's symptoms getting worse. Does he see a good neurologist? That is really important. I changed Mom to another doctor about a year ago and he is wonderful. We are still working on finding the best PD med for her and he put her on the Exelon patch b/c she was diagnosed with mild dementia last September. There are many things that can cause the "confusion" including dehydration and even some of the meds. I hope the bloodwork gives you some answers. Please let me know whenever you can. Talk to you soon, Kim

Pretty much same as the "tell us about yourself". I'm the caretaker. My husband is getting to where he trusts me like a little puppy and I DON'T HAVE THE ANSWERS! So...I'm seeking others experiences and trying to learn and do a good job as this day only comes once! Thanks!
