About Me
I'm a 24 years old and currently a college student majoring in Computer Programming. I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE about 5 years ago and currently find myself struggling with a aggressive flare up after 4 years of being symptom free. But I try not to let my condition run my life. I consider myself to be a huge dork and I laugh at inside jokes that even I don't get sometimes! I have an odd sense of humor and can be very blunt sometimes but thats just who I am. : ) I'm the single parent of identical twin daughters who will be starting school this year (!!!) and I have an identical twin sister- thats right, we do everything in pairs!

I am so sorry to hear you are that sick!! I have been having colon problems too. Quite a bit of pain and in the bathroom alot. My rheumy wants me to have blood work done and prob another colonoscopy .... it has only been 4yr and i have to have one every 5, but think they will be sending me soon do to past and resent problems. Please take care of yourself. Happy to hear the girls are doing well.

Hey Kylie! Sorry, I haven't been on here a lot lately to commuicate. We're moving AGAIN, about 60 miles to the south. Oh well, I like it better there. Just wanted to drop by and say Hello and check on you! Hope you're doing ok! This move has me in a tailspin...& I've been battling Pleurisy again...for over a month now! Nothing seems to be working this time! What a HORRIBLE time to have it! LOL! {{hugs}} ;)

Close Lupus
Was diagnosed with Lupus in 2003 after a year of unexplained kidney problems. Everyday holds new challenges for me, I'm just trying to make it through to the good days that are ahead. I will never say I suffer from Lupus, it will never have my life. I'm hopeful that one day I can find a medication that controls my flare ups without sending me into an allergic reaction! Until then...I'm just hanging out in this crazy world trying to prove myself and making each day count : )
Treatments
- Cellcept Too Soon to Tell
- Will start tomorrow
- Cyclophosphamide Somewhat Helpful
- Had 5 treatments in 2004, hard to say if it worked. No real side effects aside from fatigue and swelling in my legs. Kidney function and flare up improved shortly after I stopped treatments.
- Methotrexate Working / Worked
- Took 7 pills a day for a year or so, was taken off after my lupus was in full remission.
- Plaquenil Not Working
- Tried this drug twice (last introduction was only 50 mg/ day) but caused severe allergic reaction both times. Drug rash all over my upper body and face, quickly discontinued the medication both times.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Works but I only take it for flare ups now. Side effects are too rough for me to handle.

I'm the single mother of twin girls who are starting school this year! I'm just trying to find balance in this crazy world the best I can : )
