Happy 4th of July, dear friends!!
Today is a celebration of our Independence and to honor all our veterans. Many of us are planning our own celebrations, picnics, barbeques, sparklers, and of course, fireworks.
In the midst of all the fun, lets pause for just a moment and remember what this day truly means to our lives. Freedom. Freedom to speak, have opinions, worship as we please, to know the news as it happens, and choose our own leadership.
Lets go to that parade (which may be always the same) So what?? Another freedom that has been preserved for us!
Lets stand as the honor guard goes quietly by, proud in their uniforms and holding the flag with the honor they felt in serving their country. Let us take off our hats and caps to those men in honor of them, covering our heart with our hand and allowing ourselves to feel with emotion all that have died to protect our freedom.
Our country is unsettled right now. New leadership has caused many new situations and many unfavorable ones,...but it was the choice of the majority of the people. Many jobs have been lost, many companies closed, there are foreclosures and bankruptcies, and it seems as we are always at war. Our fathers, brothers, husbands, daughters, and sons are on battlefields, so that we are protected here at home.
Fighting so that we are able to retain the freedoms we have. And so, on this sunny, celebration day,...I say,...GOD BLESS AMERICA!! We are so fortunate to live here!
And, we should be humbled by all that has been given and protected,..for us!

Hi Judy,
Thank you for refocusing some of our activities with reminders of the true meaning of this day. Last night they were already shooting off fireworks and LOUD.I work in the city and they like to shoot their guns on the fourth ,so once I get done with work at 6 pm I will be heading , quickly, back to the burbs. Hugs, Inga

This is indeed a special day and thank you for writing so eloquently about it. My husband (still legally married) is a disabled veteran and I was thinking last night if people still think of the brave soldiers that we have actively fighting for our freedom on a daily basis....or has it started to diminish in our minds as we go on with our daily lives.....I hope not. I hope every day we spend time thinking and praying for those that are out there risking there lives for our freedom. My husband will be in one of those parades today, riding his motorcycle with his fellow marines and all soldiers, with my daughter, as always, proudly riding on the back.....so proud of her dad and all of the military. Thank you again Judy....for a wonderful, heartfelt entry! Love and hugs, my friend!

Thank you Judy. More folks need to thimk and talk like you. I love America, and I am proud to have had a father that fought in WWII. He was dradted, and derved in Germany and France, he was rven at Normandy.(Not on the first strike, but reinforcements. My husband was in the Army National Guard and then in the Coast Guard. James had no wars during his time in the service, butI was scared in his time with fighting Drug Runners, ammuntion thiefs and all kinds of illegal immagrants. We got married July 3oth
1988 and he left for a Mexico 3 days later. I am proud to also have a brother in law who was in the Navy during the atrocity called Viet Nam. I love you Judy and I am glad you love our country too, Love Peggy

Provo for you Judy you said a mouth full and than some. I couldn't have said it any better myself. Even if I had the words. My dearly departed was an Army Vet. And I was darn proud of him! It is such a shame we have lost many of our troops to a usuals battle. I pray that we do not lose too many more in this darn war. I also pray for the economy to come back in full force. Most of all I pray for WORLD PEACE! I hope your July 4th was a happy and safe one. Loves and Bunches of Hugs! Gail
