While I was never a "hippie" in the 60's, I have decided that I have become a total "rebel" when it comes to things in life and the workplace, society, and politics that I feel are not "right." I am my own person, I believe in kindness to others...I believe in treating others as I wish to be treated. Artistic, love to paint aspen, Indian maidens, flowers, faces (not portraits any more), read, love dinners out, but love to cook a better than average meal, love to entertain (but don't do it like I used to in my "other life), " love people, I always like to do a better than average job at whatever I do...

Reading some of your stories, I thought some of you might enjoy this story: many years ago when I felt so sad, I would finish my art classes (I taught at the city rec center), and before going home, just sit in my car and pray. I prayed for just a little joy. 8 months later, I gave birth to a little boy. My friends who loved me said, "God misunderstood you. He thought when you were praying for a little joy, you said you wanted a little boy!" Well, I got both. That was over 30 years ago!

I have so many family issues, Dr. Phil would shake his head! My story was too long for this space, so in a nutshell I despise my evil daughter-in-law, but her evil ways have won, and I never see my granchildren because of her. I have a broken heart...

A month ago my 32 year old son was beat to a pulp..and aggrssive act; he has some temprary brain bruising, loss of memory, double vision..

My second marriage of six years became very abusive--not only of myself but also my teenage son. I am several years away from it now and am much better off.

- It worked, until the therapist made a mistake and set me up for more abuse after a session with both of us.

- Works--I paint in acrylics: florals, aspen, mountains--good stuff, great therapy

My menopause (like it was a part of me--which it was) is long gone down, but my experiences might be helpful to others.
Open The Financial Crisis
Went through a similar crises in the '80s...only heard about the Great Depression as a child. Know this is serious, and we all should be involved. Pay attention. It all affects us individually.
Open Financial Challenges
My 30+ year old son has hearing loss from a brutal attack. SSDI for him? I am old enough to retire, but retirement is not a word in my vocabulary. Always looking for ways to cut costs.
Treatments
- Budgeting Working / Worked
- Frankly, cut most in food, heat, gas (hardly go anyplace anymore); haven't adopted a canine since my other one died suddenly; excercising practicality, but not enjoying it much.
- Cut Up Credit Cards Working / Worked
- It took me a year, but was able, with a little more than minimum payments to pay off all but two credit cards.
- Earn Money Working / Worked
- Have a full time job, but for extra $ I have done alterations (master seamstress) and sold a few paintings (acrylics)
- Holding a Garage Sale Working / Worked
- I do this from time to time; have become leary of Craig's list, but use Freecycle to give things away. Haven't asked for anything yet. L(
