Without discussion with family, I have decided to stop all Internet support group activity. Pink and I have had a wonderful year sans health issues and I want to make 2009 a better year still.
We are moving forward as a couple to meet all our goals it isn’t easy as you know, her need for 2 surgeries stops the movement from time to time. But we like all of you tough it out and get through.
If I am ever to step up and complete the things we want so desperately to accomplish I need to concentrate on those things. The nonprofit cat rescue is now reality, and we have 2 fosters at home. We need at least ½ acre so I can build the 500 to 1000sq foot outdoor enclosure to let them roam outside. We have a coyote problem so they cannot go completely free. Shame.
I personally will be spending at least 1 week out of every two months in Florida as my mother is getting older and I have to help her more and don’t want to be away to long god forbid the inevitable happens. Two of our boys are in Vegas and we both wish to see them more, it is only 3 ½ hours from here by car. So why not go at least once per month for an overnight. Pink’s health must allow of course.
Our charitable donations rose sharply this past year, despite needing things for ourselves we have always helped the homeless. Next year we wish to give time and not just money. If that means sitting in a room and offering encouragement since actual labor or serving meals at the rescue shelter isn’t possible than that is what we will do.
2009 will be the year in which we both get closer to our god. With illness and pain going to church has not been easy. It shouldn’t be so we are going to make it every week no matter. We will start with Christmas mass.
I will be available to help anyone through email. Please refer friends to me. I have all but deleted 20 names from my email lists as I have sent out a message of Thanksgiving and removed all who did not reply except those I know here at Ds to be too ill to respond.
God willing Pinks fight with workers comp will end, she will have her surgeries and she will start to feel better. I fear that she will have permanent nerve damage since they are dragging their heals to help her. I hold no animosity towards them, it is a system and there are plenty of cheats out there. The system sucks not because of the lawyers or work comp companies, it sucks because so many of those who collect are full of shit and ruined it for all you good people.

Well good for you ... Its time to do what your want to make yourselve happy and healthy... But I have to say I will truely miss you... I wish you and pink well and will be thinking of you too.. Please if you can keep in contact sometimes when you can...

Doug, I am sorry to see and read that you are leaving the Internet sites. I can understand the situation with your mom since I had the same thing happen when my grandmother (mom's mother) was still alive. I took care of her when I could do so. I will for sure keep your e-mail address handy especially when my parents and I will be going outside of Bishop to stay by Tom's Place on Rock Creek. God speed to Pink and yourself.

Congratulations on starting your cat rescue! That's very exciting. I admire that you are doing it. So many cats and kittens need to be saved. I volunteer for a no kill rescue. Our branch of the rescue adopted 600 cats and kittens this year and our adoptions are increasing, allowing us to save more. Now if all of us animal lovers can get more people to spay and neuter their pets, maybe we can get a handle on the millions put to death by kill shelters every year.

Doug it sounds like you and pink have a busy schedule ahead....Sorry I didnt response back at thanksgiving...I had an endoscopy done and ended up at the ER.....I wish you and pink the best and we will be here.....hugs

Pink and I are so excited about getting more involved with community and once our kids save enough to move we also hope to start with foster kids.

I am so happy for you both. As I've said in a previous email I hope one day I will so lucky to have a relationship like the two of you. You have set your goals and I admire you for putting those plans into action. I too have used excuses as to why I couldn't go to mass on Sundays - my STex hangover's for one and Sat. night was always out for the same problem. I have started going back already and it's filling the hole... I have the land you need for the kitten & cats, but I'm sure you & Pink don't want to move to GA. LOL. If you'll send me your rescue's address, I would love to make a donation. I can't have any cats as I have one dog who hates them. But I love them all the same. My best wishes to you for the upcoming year...You'll be missed.

Best wishes to you and Pink. You will be missed around here. I been doing alot of stuff this year for foster kids over at Sleep Train. I went over to the Dollar Tree and bought about $25.00 worth of christmas stuff animials to give to foster kids in need. I don't get to church that much either my health isn't all that good either. I have enjoyed reading through some of your journal entrys and I know I'm not here and much as I like to be. Good luck with those cats and making a fence incloser. Thats ashamed that there is to many coyotes around. My 12 year old foster cousin adoption was final at the end of Nov. after they been working through the state to get her adopted ever since she was a year old. God Bless, Sherilyn

It sounds like you're doing the right thing. You need to do what is important to you. I did the same. I used to spend considerable time on here each day. Now, I hardly get on much at all. I've found better things to do that distract me from my pain more, and make me feel more fulfilled. You're doing the same, and I think that's wonderful. I'll miss you when I am around.
