A Little Scare... Mood
Wednesday, April 15, 2009
SO, I GO TO MY DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT YESTERDAY.  IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE JUST A REGULAR CHECK UP. THE NURSE TOOK MY BLOOD PRESSURE-WHICH SUDDENLY HAD BECOME VERY HIGH.  I WAS RUSHED OVER TO THE MAIN PART OF THE HOSPITAL WHERE SOME TESTS WERE DONE. THE FIRST HALF OF THE TESTS CAME BACK NORMAL- I'LL FIND OUT ABOUT THE 2ND HALF TOMORROW....  BUT BECAUSE MY BP WAS SO HIGH, MY OB/GYN ADMITTED ME INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR CLOSE MONITORING.  SHE ALSO DID A FEW STRESS TESTS ON THE BABY.  THE BABY, THANK GOD, IS STILL DOING WELL AND MY BP IS NOW STABLE-BUT WILL CONTINUE TO BE WATCHED CLOSELY.  I WAS SENT HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL TONIGHT AND EXCEPT FOR SMALL 30 MIN. INCREMENTS, I BASICALLY NEED TOTAL BEDREST.  IT'S ALMOST CERTAIN THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO RETURN TO WORK FOR THIS YEAR, BUT I'LL KNOW THAT FOR SURE TOMORROW AS WELL WHEN I SEE MY DOCTOR.  AN EXPERIENCED NURSE WHO DISCHARGED ME TONIGHT SAID THERE'S A VERY GOOD CHANCE MY DOCTOR WILL HAVE ME DELIVER EARLY TO PREVENT ANY COMPLICATIONS.  I'M AT 35 WEEKS NOW, SO PROBABLY IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS MY DOC WILL WANT TO DELIVER THE BABY.  SUCH CRAZINESS!!!   ONE MINUTE I'M ENJOYING EASTER WITH MY FAMILY, ASSUMING ALL IS WELL, AND THE NEXT I'M BEING ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR ALMOST TWO FULL DAYS.  I DID FIND A PENNY IN MY HOSPITAL ROOM, THOUGH, WHICH I CONSIDER AS A "PENNY FROM HEAVEN" AND IT WAS MY MOTHER SHOWING ME THAT SHE WAS WITH ME THE WHOLE TIME.  FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE PRAYERFUL OR SPIRITUAL IN ANY WAY, PLEASE SAY A PRAYER THAT THINGS GO WELL FOR ME AND MY BABY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS PREGNANCY. THANK YOU!!! =)

I am so sorry that you had to spend time in the hospital. I hope you are feeling better now and getting the rest you need. I know you will listen to the doctor and take care of yourself and the baby. I will keep you and the baby in my thoughts and prayers.

    Love and Hugs Barb

I am glad everything is ok now. And if bedrest is what you need, then bedrest is what you'll get! Preecclampsia is not something we want to have to deal with. I know that both of you will be just fine! Lots of prayers and hugs!!

Oh those pennies from heaven.... Your mom is watching over that little granddaughter of hers. Keep her warm and safe until she makes her grand entrance into the world... I better knit faster.... Sending you warm, energetic, keeping the watermelon safe ... and you too. So bedrest it is.... enjoy it while you can. We love you. Keep looking for pennies.

The abnormal high BP can come from a variety of things; but the doc's did EXACTLY the right things! Personally, your cute little hinnie would still be sitting in the hospital bed. As for putting you on bedrest...totally agree. Now, from this point onward Katie is going to be just fine if we delivered her tomorrow....she would simply need a bit of skilled care for a while; but she is well past the point of survivability. So kick back, enjoy the time in bed; read a dozen good books and plan on all the fun you are going to have with little missy Katy.

    love and giggles babe
