i heard from mary anne again this afternoon... i did a lot of worrying for NOTHING. here's the deal: they're going to take me. but i have to sign TWO contracts. contract one says that, as an out-of-state resident, glory house is not responsible for the cost of my transportation home, should i be prematurely discharged or sent home for medical reasons. mary anne's e-mail said:
Ali,
We are not a treatment center and do not have the staff to monitor residents with eating disorders around the clock.
After our staff discussion and review of your medical records, we want you to be 30 days without purging/binging behavior, stable on your meds, and ready to make the changes you need to make before coming into the program. This is for your protection as well as ours.
We would also require that you read and sign the two attached contracts. One is required of all out of state applicants. The other is specific to your situation - we require this of applicants with medical issues that could make it impossible for them to continue in our program.
Ali, we want you to be successful here and after much prayer have come to the decisions listed above.
God bless,
Mary Anne
contract two is a little more sobering... it's a health contract... it says:
GLORY HOUSE MEDICAL CONDITION AGREEMENT
DATE: June 25, 2008
TO: Ali Davis
FROM: Mary Anne Bennett, Program Director
RE: Medical Condition Agreement
Since you have a pre-existing condition – a diagnosed eating disorder for which you have received treatment - we are accepting you into the Glory House Restoration Program probationary phase with the following conditions:
1. Prior to admission into Glory House, you must complete at least 30 days without purging.
2. If you are unable to continue participating in the Program because of the eating disorder, we will ask that you leave our program until such time as you are able to actively participate.
3. If your medical condition worsens to the point that it impairs your ability to participate in the Program, you may be asked to exit at that time.
Please sign below to indicate your understanding and acceptance of the terms outlined above for admission and continuance in the Program.

this is going to be tough... not the whole being stable on meds thing, but the "no purging for 30 days prior to entering the program" thing... but it's something i'm going to have to do if i want to go... i don't have any paper in my printer, so i'm going to have to send my mom an e-mail at her work e-mail address and have her print the contracts out for me... which means she's going to read them... FABULOUS...
This is so exciting! And scary. Yay for you for being so determined, I know you can make it for 30 days. Don't take no for an answer!
I bet it's pretty incredible for you to be reading these letters, such a blessing.
