Just a suggestion from the Friends & Family side of Bipolar. You cannot manage her. You cannot control her. It's up to them to control themselves and take responsibility for their actions. If they cannot do this, which also means taking their meds, going to therapy, and thinking about more than just inside the box, then a relationship is the last thing she'll be able to handle. Sometimes we just have to go on faith and let go of the reigns.

I'm in a relationship with a 45 year old who presents with what she calls "cyclothymia". I am dealing with a problem more severe than that. I need help. She is self managing her medications, is taking alcohol and is in denial about how bad her condition is. I need help. I love her.
