Well, after Phoenix and his pneumonia, my burns, Zion's trip to the hospital with croup, and both my girls sick with either pneumonia or croup, we finally seem to be on the tailend of all the sickness. The doctor didn't even check our girls, and said that since they were both exposed to croup and pneumonia, they were going to be treated as if it was confirmed. It's now been a week since we were at the hospital--a record for this month. :)
I'm a little concerned for Zion though, and am just looking for some insight, as I wait for the pediatrician to get back to me.
He has been sleeping through the night for a while. For a while, he would go to bed around 8:30, and wake up at 6. Now his schedule is: he goes to bed around 7:30, and it's a battle to keep him up that late. He sleeps all through the night, wakes up between 8:00-8:30. He wants to eat and is ready to go back to bed. His naps in the morning used to be about 30 minutes, an hour tops. Now he's sleeping for 2, 2.5 hours, and would probably sleep longer if I let him. He's up for about 1.5 hours, sometimes as long as 2.5 hours, but then is ready to go back down for a couple more hours. Yesterday he was up for a total of 5.5 hours in 24 hours, and about an hour of that was dealing with a screaming baby who just wanted go to bed.
During his wake hours, he's doing great, crawling, pulling himself up to standing, etc. So I'm not too worried, but I just worry that he could be sleeping too much, and if he is, that there could be a medical reason for it. He is now 8 months...I've just never had such a big sleeper, so I don't know if I should take this experience, and be thankful, or if it could be something else.
Anyone else have big sleepers like this?? You'd think with him being my 5th baby that I'd know all this....but I'm just paranoid, I guess.

I'm glad everyone seems to be on the mend!!!! Wish I had advice for you on Zion's sleeping. Emma didn't really start sleeping well until she was 2 and Lindsey never had the chance to show us how she'd be!!! Hope the Dr. gets back to you soon!!!

not to completely scare you... but, Kendal would go to bed between 6:30-7:00 and wake up at 7:00 the next morning... then take a 2 hour morning nap and a 3 hour afternoon nap. My son on the other hand was a terrible sleeper! I'm glad to hear everyone is feeling better- He might be going through a growth spurt and need the extra sleep!

Thanks Wanda and Michelle. I just talked with the doctor, and she said since he had the croup last week, that he's possibly just sleeping it off. She said to bring him in if he's still sleeping as much after a week, or if we're still concerned. I think he's okay. Everything just makes me nervous anymore.

I'm glad you heard from her!!! I think Emma's been sleeping off her flu that way too, at least the past couple days! I'm with you....everything makes me nervous too!

I don't blame you for benig nervous...Audrey started sleeping a lot and they told me it was a growth spurt..woudn't even consider it anymore. That is why I still have some anger towards my ped. Sounds like you have a good one though.

Amber, maybe you have a linebacker on your hands??? they say kids grow when they sleep. One morning you'll get up and have a 6'4 250 kid on your hands. hehe

Ohh Jonathan had his sleep habits like that. Then would change one morning where he didn't want to sleep as much. The Dr's right just keep an eye on it... and bring him in if it's still happening in a week or two
