The heat has finally broken here so relief is in site, at least this week. I feel like I become a prisoner when it's so hot. I go out only when I absolutely have to and then it drains all my energy out. It's amazing how much better I feel when it cools off.
This week we started Vacation Bible School at our church and I have been helping. I really enjoy the kids so much. My 12 yr old son is really getting involved this year as an Island guide helping the "younger" kids get to their classes, snacks, crafts, etc. I watched him today sitting at a table filled with teenagers and I was suddenly filled with such motherly love and pride for this awesome life that I made. I am a truly blessed in the life I have now. Just 10 years ago I was married to a severe alcoholic , who was abusive and I had to hide in my room with my son to keep him away from that influence. I remember praying daily for God to help me get out of that life.
I finally got out of that situation and my 2 sons & I lived a fairly simple life. But we were safe and happy. Then one day I decided to check out the internet dating scene just to have someone to talk to. I must truly say that I was very leery, but actually it was a pretty good experience in several ways. Then I met this awesome man online who made me laugh with just an email. That was amazing. After several weeks we began talking on the phone and then more weeks went by before we actually met. I can honestly say from that day on I smiled ALOT. That man became my husband and adopted my youngest son (his Dad disappeared- Thank God) and every day I thank God for the wonderful family I now have. My sons & step-daughter bring me endless joy and I have a man who truly loves me without reservations, despite my health issues, weight issues, etc. I sometimes forget how blessed I am, but I just want to say Thank you God for answering all the prayers I said every day for so long.
I hope I never forget the anquish and pain I went through because it makes me truly appreciate all the great things I have in my life now.
