Think i've tried everything over my quits. Patches worked best but i think it was more of a placebo effect than anything, knowing they were there, feeding the nicotine into me was somewhat reassuring. Tried gum, hated it, tastes like crap. Tried the 'inhalator' that was good because i used my hands to draw a shot of nicotine into me which was absorbed by the mouth lining, that was good, although no smoke, i felt the burn on my throat, made me feel like i was taking in nicotine. never tried chantix but from what i've read from people on here it seems to work for most, not all, but sounds encouraging. Notice anything? all these quitting aids contain nicotine (barring chantix), the one thing we're trying to stop being addicted to lol. i know they say reducing the amount over time helps to get people off it slowly, bt in the end its just keeping our nicotine habit fed, if i had to choose i'd go cold turkey but that to me just sounds frightening!!!! All in all, i don't know shit lol, the proof i don't know shit is that i am still smoking so take what i say with a big ole pinch of salt! Keep trying but if something don't work, try something else, if that dont work go back to what you originally tried and try again... moral of this long winded, complex tale, is don't give up hope and don't beat yourself up if you slip, most of all, don't let anyone else beat you up either as we do a perfectly good job of that on our own. stay lucky x
Hey friend. Just thought i'd drop you a line to say how much i admire your willingness to begin your quit again after your slip up. I slipped yesterday and am still smoking the pack i bought. i will be quitting again in a day or so. Its hard, the cigarettes have seduced me back into the fold and are trying to tell my brain that they will be my friend no matter what. The sooner i kick them back into touch the better, so i will see you on the boards again soon. Again, to reiterate, well done on resuming your quit, keep it together and work hard, do it in your own way and at your own pace, do what feels right. Everyone is different and therefore everyone approaches their quit in a different way, although some advice is good from time to time, trust your own judgement, afterall, you know yourself better than anyone else. if you need anything, drop me a line, you're NOT alone. All the best to you, Cole x
