I was just reading your entry reference the creams that you used on your "sunburned" area. Just wanted to double-check that both the Radiacream & Radiagel were just over-the-counter creams you could get & not something your doctor had to prescribe? I'm going tomorrow to start all my setup stuff for my radiation treatments & have been reading everything I can to try & be prepared as much as possible. Am getting a little nervous the closer it gets. I already bought some aloe vera & have it cooling & ready in the fridge. I was also reading what some of the ladies said about the Aquaphor cream. Don't know if you used that at all or not. Just wanted to have some info on what to get that might help in advance. Plus something that's cost effective would be great. I'm getting enough medical bills in my mailbox already!!

    • Close Breast Cancer
      Stage: 0 (Tis)

I am a three year survivor, DCIS, es/pr +, HER2 borderline, lumpectomy,32 rads, tamoxifen, complete hysterectomy '06. Do lots of advocacy work. Life is far too short to waste one moment worrying about dying.

      Treatments

      Nolvadex Working / Worked
Still cancer free, but did have abnormal bleeding 7 months after starting it that led to hysterectomy.
      Radiotherapy Working / Worked
Was very fatigued fairly early in my treatments. Had 27 regular tx and 5 boosts. Some skin breakdown but not too bad. Prone to breathing problems and infections since.
      Surgery Working / Worked
I am very happy with the results of my lumpectomy. The scar is on the underside of my breast and my breast does not look all that different from the other. Had excisional biopsy in '06, benign radiation scar tissue, yeah!
