doing ok
Not bad, really busy with DR and counselor with GF. MELD IS 16-18 average past few months. Be back soon. Good luck too all.
I'm a single 40 year old Father of two grown children. I had a rough 20 year battle with my Demon, drugs & alcohol. I found sobriety on 4-1-07, but it was a few years too late. I now await a life saving liver transplant from UCSF.

Meeting others with addiction problems and liver disease. The outdoors when feeling good, traveling, the beach, & playing poker.

How are you doing! The kid is looking great, and from your photo, so are you!
Best wishes!
The way I figure I already have major problem, it is no use, if at all possible, aggravating it with other health issues. The fat content of food might be a real issue, if you are allowed any, cut all saturated fat and replace it with olive oil. My wife even learned to bake cakes with olive oil! The trouble is eating just a small slice!!! Good luck and keep the faith!!! Best wishes, Lou.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
LOVE AND HUGS TO YOU AND COCO,LUCY..
Thanks for your kind words, glad you're my friend:)
I had a rough 20 year battle with my Demon which was alcohol. A functioning alcoholic if there is one. I found sobriety on 4-1-07, but it was a few years too late. I now await a life saving liver transplant from UCSF. I could use some support and would like to discuss my disease, experiences, transplant information with others who have been where I'm at or with someone who could use my support.

My story is listed on my profile page. I'm a 40 yr old male with End Stage Liver Disease. I'm on the transplant list now with a current MELD score of 25. I'm a patient of Dr. Yao at UCSF Medical Center.
I have end stage liver disease and can no longer take any real pain killers. I was up to 16mg of diludid every 4-6 hours. One day I woke up after FOUR days of a coma-like state. I weaned myself off in the hospital and have never taken any pain meds since. The pain is still there as strong as ever but with hard work and perserverance you can break the deadly addiction of pain meds.
Abused painkiller of and on until my liver was damaged beyond repair. 3 years ago I was taking 16 to 24 mg of Dilaudid a day.
